Default Heat problem...

I did a search and found some information on heat related problems...but non that exactly fit my situation (at least not with an outcome of what the problem was).

My heat has been putting out luke warm air when the truck is stopped. When the truck is in motion it warms up a bit, but not to where it used to be. Temps have dropped drastically around here lately and my 4am drive to work is becoming a bit uncomboftable (and warming up in the truck after a few hours of being outside isn't as satisfying).

All my vents are working the same way (floor, dash, window ect).

Any ideas? Maybe just a clogged heat exchanger (in the need of a backflush)?
If a backflush is suggested, how can I do that? How do I make sure it incorperates my heater?

2003 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi

Thanks

Does your truck warm up to normal operating temp?

Yes, the truck does reach normal operating temp. I can even see the thermostat working if I watch my gauge closely. As the truck warms up from a cold start, the needle will rise to exactly midway on the gauge… then the thermostat opens and the needle drops to just below midway. Seems as if the thermostat is working properly.

I also was going to ask if you had checked the coolant level. My dads did this and he was low on coolant

OK, my coolant wasn't exactly topped off...but it was pretty close. I topped it off and I still have luke warm air blowing out of my vent. It seems to be hotter on the passenger side, especially when I put the floor vents on. But even though its hotter on the passenger side, it still doesn't seem HOT. Maybe I shouldn't be saying hotter...its warmer.

If the blend door isn't working, will air be blowing out of the vents at all? I've heard of people saying they have hot air on passenger side but nothing on driver side...do they mean nothing as in no air blowing or cold air blowing?

Hoping it’s not a blend door and it’s still just a back flush that’s needed.

I don't know where the blend door is, but is it possible to move it manually just to see if that is the problem?
