Sure, here is what I received from Julian

Chuck,

While I am unfamiliar with a trail of emails between you and Lauren, I can say with certainty, that after having learned of this thread I have made every effort to resolve your issue in a friendly, concerted and professional manner. Despite my efforts, I feel that I have been snubbed along the way and rather than embraced, I have been made out to be someone who cares more about making a buck than taking care of a customer.

In my 22 years of ownership of BAK Industries, anyone who has ever dealt with me knows well how much I care about my customers and that money has ALWAYS been secondary.

If it were up to me I would have put this behind me a long time ago. I have reached out to you and even requested that you call me directly so that I could learn first hand of what transpired and propose a fair and worthwhile settlement.

I will gladly send you the F1 in accordance with my promise and commitment. I would just like you to recognize that from the get go, all I have ever tried to do is take care of your issue. Somehow, this thread got ugly and honestly, way out of control.

I will be out of the country this week as I am going on Easter Vacation with my family, however I will put in an email to my personal assistants (Oscar Alvarez and Jesse Del Toro) and ensure that your cover is shipped. All I need from you is a valid address.

All the best,

Julian

Julian, I purchased a Bakflip through a company last year and when it came it was missing some tailgate seals, which I actually didnt mind because I didnt need to lift the panel to close the tailgate. You shipped the seals (2 different tailgate seals, some 3M tape/gasket.) and they shipped it to me. Problem is I have no idea how they go on. Can you help with some pics or instructions? I do want to say I did a lot of research before I bought a cover and I am glad I bought a Bakflip.

Happy to see them take care of you. I almost bought one myself, but got a cost purchase for a Low pro Truxedo. I emailed them for pricing on extra seals.....they sent them for no charge.

Some folks in customer service shouldn't be there.

Some customers are impossible from the get go.

It's not easy out there

Hi Mopar,

This will be my last chance to communicate with this thread until the 12th. I am on my way to Mexico on vacation. By the sounds of it, the seal you have probably just slides in from one side, however without chatting with you, I am just speculating based on your description.

Please call our office at (818) 365-9000 and speak with Ivan or Jesse. they will likely be able to assist in my absence.

I'll check up on you when I get back. hopefully you'll be taken care of by then .

Cheers,

Julian

I was one of those who had a horrible experience with Julian and Lauren after my new HD cover was damaged by pea-size hail (truck was not damaged). It seems like they may be a little more accommodating now and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another cover from BAK, but not the HD cover.

I think it is time to put this thread up on the shelf and mark it as a victory for all dodgeforum members. We caught the eye of the owner of Bak, helped resolve issues with members and Bak, and I hope that anyone that reads this thread recognizes that Julian is going out of his way to take care of dodgeforum members.

I am one of the people that did not buy a Bak cover mainly because of this thread. I also went on to tell Julian that actions speak louder than words, and based on his actions, I would be 100% confident purchasing a Bak cover for my next truck.

So, kudos to you Julian, I think you have turned a lot of negative opinions in Bak's favor... at the very least, you have changed me back into a believer.

Enjoy your vacation!

Default Hail damage to the BakFlip HD

My company tonneaucoversfortrucks.com sells only Bak Tonneau Covers online because we believe them to be the best covers on the market today. I was quite surprised to see the age of this thread and oldjeeps struggle with the hail damage on his HD. In my 3 year experience with them, Bakliner's response to the infrequent warranty issues involving my customers has been exemplary. It is true that the HD and aluminum G-2 are subject to hail damage to the same extent as the skin of your truck. I have sold over 1,000 of the new HD and aluminum G-2 covers. When a customer asks if he really needs the new FRP coated F-1, I always ask where he lives and if he has ever had any hail damage to a vehicle. No product is perfect as we have all seen form the Toyota experience this year.
I became a dealer after buying a Bakflip as a customer. I have an '07 Titan and have had the HD on since late '08. After two winters and some light to medium hail storms, my panels have no dents or scratches. My 12 yr. old son washes the truck weekly and walks all over it during the process. If you visit my site the silver Titan is mine and the cover on the truck is the one of which I speak. I as well as Bakliner treat our customers the way we would expect to be treated as customers. You can't make everybody happy all the time, but we can sure try to!

Rockinroad, glad to hear about your success with the sales of the Bakflip covers and that Oldjeep's experience is unique from the general customer svc they offer.

Hopefully 2010 is another profitable year for you... maybe you can use the funds to buy yourself a real truck! j/k.
