Chrysler buy back...
When my 08 was bought back they paid me everything I put in on it - taxes, tags, fees, and what I got as a trade in on my old vehicle. So you get back everthing less your loan amount (which they paid off) and .10 a mile for every mile up until you reported the first problem. In my case I had 14,000 miles on it, by the time they settled I put on another 6,000 miles but they only charge .10 for the 14,000 miles after that I was riding the truck for free. Almost forgot, they even refunded the interest I paid on my loan.
I saw this forum and was hoping that maybe someone could let me know what I should be expecting as far as dealing with Chrslyer. My '09 Town & Country caught on fire while it was at the dealership last week. I had bought it there because of a recurring problem I had with the battery. The next day when I went to go get something I left in it over night...I was told that it had caught fire after hours while sitting in the service parking lot. They offered me the buyback option. I bought the car in August '09 new, but it still falls under the used car category.
We have the Arbitration Process but because it takes so long and people give up that it gets a poor review. I had an issue with paint on my 2000 Patriot Blue...super thin paint, could see thru all kinds of places, they wound up painting every part except the passenger door. No issue, but I wanted paint under the doors, where there was none just ecoat and a light dusting of paint. They said not but what they gave me was a lifetime warranty on the paint for anything, shine, rust, anything even if it was acid rain it was covered. Another issue I had where I was charged for something they did not do, Customer Service issued me a cheque, no questions asked after I explained what happened. One other issue I had was also settled, took a bit more but stick to your guns and you should get your problems solved...they act like lawyers and try to wear you down, but every issue I have had has been dealt with, sometimes with a little extra pushing but you have to do what you have to do.
Where did you hear that about the trailer hitch law thing?
I honestly don't recall - some Canadian was discussing a topic with me and he mentioned it - pretty sure either he had an article about it or I found one online. I can't recall if you could get a ticket for driving with it in while not in use or if you were just liable for some of the damage to the vehicle that rear ended you.
I live in Canada. ashamed to say I own a Dodge Ram truck. had all front end redone twice. Steering Box redone twice. had to drive with no power steering for 6 weeks, till dealer got parts. just hit 60,000 miles... they better do the buyback in Canada. worst vehicle I have ever owned. can't sell it , what idiot would buy it.
