Default New best 1/4 mile run.

Went to the track last night. I was unable to do a before and after with the Superchips tunes because the programmer had an error and I could not change the tune from the 93 with TM @ 8%.

Out of 50 cars in the Street Auto field I came in 3rd with a $25 payout (wooohooo). lol. The truck was running harder and loosening up as the night went on. This thing loves to be pushed. I started out the evening running consistent 15.15 during dial in's so by race time I put 15.12 on the window. As the racing went on my truck was getting faster and so I changed the dial in to 15.08. My final race in the Semi finals against a early 2000,s Camaro, I red lighted and lost, but posted my best time of the night 15.02 @ 92.73mph. If I wouldn't have red lighted I would have won the race because he broke out more than I did. Oh well, he went on to red light in the finals.

I definitely think my truck could have gotten into the 14's had I manually shifted. I launched in 4x4 and immediately turned it to 4x2 as soon as I got out of the gate. I had ESP off and Tow/Haul on. One thing I learned is that when you switch to 4x4, the ESP turns back on so make sure you hit the button again once 4x4 is engaged. The 4x4 turned off instantly with no delay.

I gotta say if you are WOT and switch from 4 wheel to 2 wheel you can expect future transfer case or some type of damage. I noticed when I have the front plate off when I change the radio, the wheel drive light comes on without the switch so i shut off the truck and when i put everything back together and started it I heard what sounded like a shaft moving or something so if you are putting all that torque on whatever the electronic shift of the front drive shaft engaging or whatever you gotta expect breakage.

So it's likely better to leave it in 4wd for the length of the track... i can't imagine it would hurt anything... compared to throwing it back to 2wd

Even if the light indicates 2WD mode, your front axle did not disengage while you were under acceleration. The drivetrain needs to be 'relaxed' for the disconnect to occur.

I just did a run in 2wd and had no problem hooking up. No need for 4wd. Ran 16.4 @ 87. Very first run!

According the the Chrysler engineers, even the auto trans SRT8 vehicles are faster in D then manually shifting.

Hmmm, next time I go out I'll give it a try... I'd imagine it would be faster in a road course if you left it in D... And manually shifting on the track is kinda of useless, as it shifts are redline anyways, and by the time I hit the finish line, it's still in 2nd gear... My best time last night was 16.1 @ 88
