MDS TCC Droan Shutter issues: response from Dodge
We arent really sure to the degree you have to worried really. Many are concerned about how it will affect truck over time - you know, when the warranty is up. As my service manager said "no shutter or vibration is good over time." Again, if they all did it, and did it from day one and to the same degree I would have much less of an issue or concern.
The problems are all over the place in character and presence - NOT indicative of a design feature.
I want to address the 'per design' issue. I have encountered that many many times and have been told by engineering that that was how it was and it operated a 'per design' Now dealer level techs and service employees are not engineers. Some issues would never get repaired if engineering would not get involved. Meanwhile they are told operates as per design. They tell the customers. Then they say(engineering) there s a real issue and its being worked on or a TSB magically appears. techs and service employees then get EGG all over them selves and are looked at as the maroons/assxxx that did not want to fix my vehicle. Been there and had it happen so many times I wouldn't begin to guess. Felt stupid as crap. Thrown under the bus. Told for months a issue was normal and then, Oh it is issue and here's the cure. Oh and ALL the manufactures do it just about the same way. Old saying is that the crap always ends up in service. there are times that just because they ALL do it dosen't mean its 'as per design' I have encountered trans shudder on shift in certain conditions at highway speeds in Nissans and Cadillacs in the past.

Guess what gentlemen? The new F150' s have a vibe as.well when in fuel saver mode.If you don't like your trucks, trade them in for a different truck or.... smash it into a telephoned pole and take the insurance money. I love my Ram and I don't much miss my F150.
Agree completely. Thats kind of what also bugs me about my situation and why I want to raise a fuss. My services techs said just about the same thing you said. They completley agree this is faulty design that requires a solution but they have to tell me its normal. If I had a nickle for everytime they told me "off the record, I agree completely.".
I agree yours has a problem. Hope something can be done for you. Did you have the tsb done that addressed a drivability issue with the mds? Can't remember the number
I can understand your frustration as i am frustrated as well. I have not pointed anything out to my service dept as i have been following this thread and a couple others to see if a solution ever comes about. My truck didnt start doing it until about 1500 miles and only around 40mph on light load with MDS on...now im at 10000 miles and it does across all speeds under light load with MDS on, really really bad at about 15-20 when cruising through my neighborhood. Still havent noticed an issue at higher speeds and no issues if MDS isnt on. I always put in 5th when im driving city streets to avoid the shudder but I feel like this is something i shouldnt have to do.
This has to be a software issue with shift points, but my feeling is that dodge leaned out the shift points as much as possible to get a better MPG rating from the govt and changing around the programming would drop this down.

I own a 2010 ram 1500 as well. Like the truck a lot but am really bummin about the vibration I get when the truck is under light acceleration in the eco mode and the whine noise that is there around the 50 mph range under slight acceleration. They did get rid of a howl in the rear end and claimed the other stuff was 110 percent normal. Funny, the tech guy that rode with me, to hear the howl, pointed out the vibration and the whine. Was glad he heard it because I was really bummin about it but figured since I could tell it had to do with running on 4 cylinders i would just have to live with it. long story short, when I returned, excited with the thought all three would be resolved they told me it was as designed. I to, if told, this would be part of owning this truck, I would have decided against. Wish i would have read this forum before, not now, doing a simple search to see how and if i can come up with a remedy.
