The two dealers I know have been paying for lots of out of warranty repairs. The NEW RAM and Chrysler owners are trying to really be proactive.
I was a Field Representative for Buick in the 1966-67 model years. Buick, in my opinion was very good about taking care of owners and more lienient than Chevy, Pontiac, or Olds on warranty. That said, during the time I was with division Buick had the lowest per-car warranty repair rate of any GM division, both by incident and cost. Chevy was the worst, and in 1969 their quality was so bad that they issued a letter to all dealers instructing them to ignore more than ten complaints per car. This later became public and caused quite a stir in the press.

So it can happen.

Whether that goes on today by any manufacturer is purely speculation. Chrysler, from what I know and hear, got tight on warranty during the Daimler and Cerberus periods, but I never heard about intentional denials. In the past few years, at least according to the Dodge techs I know, Chrysler is actually been fairly liberal with warranty coverage, including those that are beyond the warranty limit.

One thing I did find unusual is the response that was posted by someone else indicating that Dodge recognized the problem but didn't have a fix for it "at this time." When I was at GM we never would've admitted that we didn't know how to resolve an issue and doing so would be interpreted at losing face.

Regards,
Dusty

I ran into that also in the prehistoric days. Dealers would not do warranty on a vehicle they hadn't sold. They also had a cash flow issue of what claim paid and moneys back to them by mail That was the reason some avoided warranty and if not the seller. Some were just asses a was some manufacturers. GM certainly was. Biggest manufacturer, big *** to deal with. Really bad attitudes for decades. Those days are long gone.

The MDS is a simple fix...
Stop the GREEN people and liberal politicians that want to control you...! (GOV/EPA) You eliminate the GOV/EPA greenies, we wont have the MDS & MPG`s to deal with anymore. Granted, the MDS does what its intended purpose is for, but without it, these trucks only drop 1 or MAYBE 2 mpg, so why bother with the MDS function and make a vehicle more complicated than it needs to be, and also cause more issues with it (MDS driveability issues), run the cost of a vehicle higher due to all this technology nonsense, being my main point.

Maybe its the way I drive. My truck I be is in MDS a whole lot more then not. When its been used in such a way tat the fuel mpg average is way down and I drive any distance wen it stays in 4 cyl mode the uel mpg steadily clicks upwards. If I turn MDS off it takes much longer to see that mileage click up and usually somewhat less. My truck will go into MDS in subdivisions, 80 mph and I can be lite on fuel feed and keep it on up steady grades. At times at low speed truck feels like to low a gear in a straight stick. But I drive sticks kinda that way also. I have no complaints about mds or vibrations. To me it works good. The amount of H.P. needed to maintain speeds slow or fast is less then half the h.p.that the engine is rated or needs to maintain speeds. can see why the design is used by a number of manufaters.

And if you "cant stand" reading all this stuff on the forums, then maybe you should be talking to chrysler instead of wasteing your valuable time, here.
I can't stand the stupid answers! Gun it and live with it. Drop down a gear, which by the way does not work! This truck is a POS! Never again with Dodge.

*****update*******

I don't believe I've posted in this specific thread but I have been having the vibration issues with the MDS since I bought the truck in May. The TSB for the transmission flash that was supposed to "smooth" out some of the issues was applied back in June with little impact to the problem.

My truck went to the dealer last week to address the vibration from the MDS and the lurching I get from the transmission sometimes. After 1 full day of having the truck they could not "diagnose" the problem and gave it back to me. I had a long talk with a service technician who mentioned that the vibration is also happening on the Dodge Caravans and the fix for them is to hang some kind of weights from the exhaust that is supposed to absorb the vibration.

I contacted Chrysler support and my truck has been at the dealer for 2 days now. They sent an "engineer" to test drive the vehicle and he verified there is a vibration. "Parts" have been ordered and I'm waiting for them to come in.

My service advisor said they were "weights" so I'm assuming they are the same thing that they are using on the Caravans. So, we will see if this fixes the vibration I am getting between 30 - 40 MPH with the MDS system.

Not sure what they plan to do about the lurching but it doesn't sound like they are addressing that at all so I'll have to make sure they know it's a seperate issue.

So if you are having this problem with your truck, you might want to keep an eye on this thread as I will post an update once I get it back and try to provide as much information about what the fix was if it is indeed fixed.

I'm not sure how you define lurching, but mine will occasionally act as if I quickly and gently applied a little throttle at the moment the transmission shifts after starting from a fully stopped position. I believe this occurs only when going from 1st to 2nd gear under light acceleration. It is very random and I've not found a way to intentionally initiate it.

Other than the little surprise it gives me when it does occur it doesn't really bother me. It probably occurs once or twice a month.

Now I just had a ride this afternoon in a new Sierra. Have you guys been in one? The six speed automatic in this truck shifted all over the place. Very light grades caused uninitiated 6-5 and 6-4 shifts. Bang shifted once in to 1st when coming to a stop. I found it very irritating. Now I understand what I've been reading about in the GM forums.

I was so glad to get behind my 545RFE when I left work tonight!!
