09-11 Chrome Clad Wheel Corrosion
I know this thread is old, but I was out washing my new to me 09 Ram Sport yesterday and noticed the wheels have this corrosion/peeling going on in the corners. The truck's at 123~124000 kms now and since I'm not the original owner I wonder if I have a case. What are my chances of getting some replacement wheels? Obviously my best bet is to go see a couple dealers (I have yet to establish a relationship with one), but I thought I'd check in here first.
Good luck getting them replaced. I was able to get all 4 of mine replaced, but I do know that others tried and the dealer said they don't cover the rim replacement. So you can try and maybe fall into some good luck with a dealer, but don't get your hopes up.
I have the same garbage hubcaps too lol. Got sum pics too. I even emailed Dodge and this is the excuse they gave me:
Dear Mr. Badowich:
We are sorry to learn of the problems experienced with your 2009 Dodge Ram 1500, and of the resulting inconvenience.
There is no hesitancy on our part to comply with the provisions of your warranty; however, as noted in your warranty information booklet, coverage applies to factory defects only. Damage or failures attributed to any other source are your responsibility. Please speak to the Service Manager Greg at Yorkton Dodge to review your concerns.
Any component can be subject to a defect, and often times, failure is an isolated incident that is not indicative of a part design problem.
Chrysler routinely analyses failed parts to develop product improvements in response to data received from dealers and the warranty system. No evidence currently exists to suggest a quality problem with the wheels of the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500.
We note that Recall Campaign L04-Outer Tie Rod Ends is outstanding on your vehicle. Please contact your dealer to arrange completion of this service, at no charge to you.
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us.
So yah I like it how they said no evidence currently exists lol. Look on all the forums.

Having the same rust oxidation on my 20"clad wheels, who did you contact so that I can send an email to them. Mines a 09 but I'm past the 36,000 mile warranty, corrosion is supposed to be 5yr 100k anyways. Haven't said anything to the dealer yet, but knowing them I pretty much know what the outcome will be. More people we have to reference too, more then likely point out this is a problem.
