Hate my Dealership
#12
Alright, I just inspected all the work that they did on the truck and what I paid for. IT doesn't match up. They were supposed to inspect the air filter housing for problems of some sort but, it hadn't even been opened. The housing was uber dirty and still had pine needles in crevaces. I opened the housing and they hadn't changed the air filter, which I paid for.
So, theres so many things that are just ticking me off. I'm afraid this is going to get ugly,

As said earlier, change dealership. If you go in "pissed", you won't get far.
Get with the service advisor and show them the reciept and the still installed old filter.
Got to ask, "The housing was uber dirty", do you ever clean you vehicle and check the basics yourself? (oil levels, air filter condition)

DD,
We're in the same area and went to the same dealership. I made similar observations when I was there. Luckily, my ram came out ok, but I was very concerned when they parked my truck next to a bunch of other cars on a very slanted hill. Last time I was there at 11,000 miles, they said my air filter was dirty and needs replacement soon. I wasn't going to allow them to change it unless I can verify that it needs replacement. I went home to check my air filter--still dusty, hasn't been touched, and looks almost brand new when I opened it up!
Sounds like we both need to look for an alternative and I suspect that other dealers around this area is not going to be much better.

I do clean my truck alot, I don't necessarily want to mess with anything under the hood because I have no experience. I don't know how to clean the area. Any tips would help. I mean I've seen people pressure washing their engines, but seem to me like something would break.
So, I went into the dealer at 7am. I informed the service manager of everything that happened. They appologized and offered to repair the damage, no questions asked. So its in the body shop now. I'll have my truck in 2 days. It all happened in two minutes. They even lent me a car. Oh and I got my air filter too.

Do not pressure wash your engine. Forces water into places it would not normally go. You can use a spray like green or orange whatever and a hose at moderate to low pressure. Don't put any water in the air cleaner snorkel. You could ask the nice service manager if he could get a tech to use air and blow any debris from under the hood.
