Well, there is still the Colorado/Canyon, Ranger, Tacoma, Frontier, Ridgeline, etc.

But no, when I say elsewhere, I mean not in the truck market at all. If you are even thinking about MPG, you shouldn't be thinking truck. Even the BEST MPG trucks barely go over the 20mpg mark on a consistent basis. And that would be mid-size, V6 (or I4/I5), and frankly that is not good MPG. Good MPG for a truck, and good MPG are GREATLY different things.

Comon, guys! At $4.60 a gallon, everyone should be concerned with getting an efficient vehicle.

But, it's all relative - the difference between 16-20MPG is about THIRTY cents per MILE. At only 15,000 miles per year, it amounts to FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE PER YEAR.

Unless you are filthy rich, it shoud make a difference to all of us, to find the one that suits us best. And the Hemi, at 20 would be a huge difference next to one getting 16MPG.

If you are not taking this into consideration, you certainly should be........

About 16mpg driving carefully in the city, now that the temperature is above freezing.
About 13 when making short trips in the city warming up the engine when it's cold.
Hoping for 20+ on the highway and will post again in 3 weeks after making said highway trip!

This is a valid point that only reinforces mine. All the big trucks these days are in the 16-20mpg range depending on driving habits, conditions and city/highway mix. There is no 25+mpg fullsize, as well as none that go under 10mpg, unless towing. RAM, Ford, GM/Chev, Toyota and Nissan all can get up to 20mpg on the highway, but all will most likely hover in the 14-16mpg range.

I will again reiterate that if that is not good enough for your budget, look into something other then a full size pickup.

15000 miles per year at 15mpg.....you would consume a 1000 gallons or say 4500 dollars (at 4.5dollar per gallon). At 18mpg you would consume 833 gallons or 3748 dollars....
Difference is 752 dollar!!

in the example of 16-20mpg...the difference in cost per year is 841 dollar...

I've been averaging 13.8 overall and have gotten 19 on the road without pushing it around 68-70. I have a cabin at 5200 ft ele so I go up into the mountains a lot also. I could prob ave 14.5 overall if I didn't do mountains. For road trips I have an MB E350 that gets 29 and an 08 Mustang GT that gets 27.

Use math much?

15000/16=937gallons * 4.6 =$4310
15000/20=750gallons * 4.6 =$3450
4610-3450=$860 difference / 12months=$71 more per month.

Luckly here gas is $3.75 thats only a difference of $710 or $59 per month.

Nope - my solar powered calculator failed me in this semi dark room---- it's ONLY 5 cents a mile difference, which still equates to a lot of beer money, at $750 a year....

More than I want to throw away - heck, it might even cover my hospital deductible for one of my visits this year.....

Agree with this.

I have gotten 20.1 highway (flat) cruising on a Hemi, CC, 4x4 with 3.55's. Greatly depends how you drive it. I have the same sweet spot (70-75) with mine where I can keep it in MDS mode the majority of time.
Local all around town driving under 40 with starts and stops, 12-15. To many traffic lights around anymore, to much idle time.

I bought my 09 Crew short box (hemi 3.55? gears) as a demo with 14,000 miles. It had never had the MPG reset. It was sitting at 15.0 avg MPG. So over 14000 miles the truck averaged exactly 15. That's through a cold Wisconsin winter and a warm summer. Probably averaging 12 in the winter and 16-17 in the summer.

I can get over 20 (but never seen over 21) on long highway trips with the truck. Freeway it drops to 18-19. Speeds over 70 it drops off quick. Probably over 1 mpg / every 5 mph.

Winter short tripping around town 12 is about it.
