3.73 is the std 2500 gear. 4.10 is a factory option.

I loved the ride on my 07 Tundra TRD. It rides a lot more car-like than my Ram 2500, obviously, and nearly as well as the Ram 1500's that I test drove before I decided on the 2500. But, put a 4000 lb single axle boat and trailer behind...... half-ton what????

Classic rationalization: I want a 2500 so I will make up a reason to need one. 4000lbs is well under half of a ram 1500 hemi's capacity. Hell the 1500 hemi will out accelerate, out brake (given proper trailer brakes) and return better gas mileage than the 2500 hemi, given similar configurations and gearing. The 2500 is far more capable than a 1500, but towing 4000 lbs is so far inside a 1500's performance envelope as to not even merit looking at a 2500. You can easily tow 6500 lbs on a 1500 series vehicle over the Appalachians with no danger and without really taxing them. Have done it and would happily do it again.

I didn't buy it just to tow my 4000 pound boat. I bought it to tow anything I feel like towing. It isn't a rationalization, nor did I present a rationalization to that effect. I am perfectly aware of the fact that almost any truck built today is capable of towing 4000 pounds, hell my wifes Jeep can. Doesn't mean I want to be the guy towing that load. I like the fact that brand loyalists are so quick to jump on someone for pointing out that there just might be a viable alternative out there. I have owned them all, and liked several things about every one of them. I believe the original topic of this thread was the difference between a 2500 and 1500. The fact is that a 2500 is better suited for towing on a regular basis than any 1500. It is what they are engineered for. Oh, and the fact that I can have a real, sure enough truck bed on the 2500 without having a cab with a back seat suited for midgets.

MDRAM43
a buddy of mine had me test drive the tundra, we flew over speed bumps, that thing drives nice, and is more American than our rams (i hate to say it, I really do).

Just wondering where you got your info about how the Tundra is more American then our Rams? The only reason I ask is because I have seen the commercial where the talk about being more American then the Ford and Chevys but then dont mention the Ram. I would think if they could say that about all of the Big 3 then they would. Just curious.

Well I just hit cars dot com and saw that the 1500 made the cut for 75% made in america or better.

But it did have one disclaimer:
*Quad cab and crew cab only. Excludes Ram 1500 single cab, which is assembled in Mexico.

My Regular cab was built in the USA in Fenton Missouri, I know because I ordered it and it is on the build sheet.
