Default Brake Job Complete!!!! Super Cheap!!!

Well when I got my tires rotated last time. Tire kingdom . They only used torque sticks and it caused my rotors to become wrapped four months ago. Well the front pads were shot at 27K. So I figured why not just replace them and the pads. Well after some inspection I noticed the rears were at about 25% so I figured why not. So after some deal searching around the intraweb I came out with $210 for Akebono pads and Wearever rotors all around from Advance Auto Parts with a local pick up. They retail at $321 from them. These were the best quality parts they had available as well. Not some cheap low grade parts. I must say the combo is super quiet and seem to have a great bite even without being fully broken in. This is the cheapest of all the vehicles I've ever owned to do a brake job too. Including a 93 Acura Integra!!! So im extremely happy and will throw an update out after they fully brake in.

PS I drive my Ram hard. On road and off!

I have plenty of OE pads left @ 51K on my 08. 27K is quite a short life span for brake pads. You tow a lot?

i had a caliper hang up at 27k and drag ... but pads were pretty worn as well dont remember percentage. i was pretty unhappy with that mileage, glad to see others got more miles, maybe replacements will last longer.

What do you mean by "torque stick"?

Please splain me how that warped the rotors and what would be the alternative to a "torque stick".

It is a socket with a built in extension that is supposed to flex and limit the impact wrench to a specific torque. They do that ok, but if the bonehead putting the wheels one doesn't draw them in evenly, it can warp a rotor or even bend the wheel.

Torque Sticks = ABSOLUTELY NOT...!!! Anyone using these are a fool...!!!
Click Torque Wrench = absolutely yes, and i`ve never warped a rotor or bent a wheel doing it the proper way for the last 40yrs.

I dont care how much you might think you know about working on vehicles, torque sticks are NOT the right way to torque ANYTHING...! Take the same torque stick, put it on an air gun that is limited to 150ft lbs, and take a torque reading of the wheel nut when you`re done torqueing it down. Then take a 600 ft lbs air gun with the same stick and take a torque reading, you`ll see 2 VERY different torque values. So no 2 air guns are equal and do not deliver the same torque values by using the same torque stick. How many garage monkies have the exact same air gun, or run the same air pressure in every garage you go to. Makes ya wonder, now don`t it. What i wonder, is how many wheels out there are torqued properly...! My bet, NOT many...!

The snap`t -off dealer came into the dealership one day and i proved it to him. I showed him that one torque stick, 2 different air guns, ended up with 2 different torque readings on the wheel after the test. Nough said..! Do it right, use a click type (or the beeping type) torque wrench and never warp your rotors or wheels again.

Oh and one more note...
how`s your lug nuts look after that wannabe blew your lugnuts back on your truck with the torque stick
I bet they`re hammered to h e l l, aren`t they...!
