Default still looking to replace my 98 ram-- what do you think of the 2011 ram sport

Still looking to replace 98 Ram......What if any thing you tell me about the 2011 Ram Sport. It only has 17,000 km a little over 10,000 mi. I'll know more by the middle of the week if I'm getting it. It's in great shape not abused. Is the 2011(5 speed) a little worse the the 2012's(6speed) for gas mileage. Anything else, I have heard that there can be trouble with the MDS system any truth to that.

cheers

There is no difference between the 11 and 12...as far as the tranny goes they just call it a 6 speed now...the mileage should be the same...i just sold a sport and got a laramie...sport was nice..mine was a quad cab and i really wanted more room and 4x4....if i wasnt so happy with the sport i wouldnt have even looked at a laramie...and i looked at all the full sized trucks trying to find one better...kept going back to the ram

I've got a 2009 Sport and I love it! The painted bumper seems to catch some abuse from rocks and chips, but I still love the look of the solid color.

Well either way, you can't go wrong on the new 4th gen Ram truck.

I am a new car sales manager at Mall of GA Dodge. I actually purchased the 2012 Ram Express myself and love the difference from the 2011 model. Huge differnence in the newer transmission and also a few interior features as well. I hope you are getting a really good buy for a 2011 model. I say this because it is absolutely the BEST TIME of the year to buy a new 2012 at the end of the model year when the price get a huge cut! Basically, you can steal a new one and have a ton of positive equity. For example, our dealer discounts 2012 Ram trucks $10000 off, which is the biggest discount in the nation. This kind of discount here, should be a no-brainer to buy a new one.

Your welcome to check out my inventory or let me know if you have any questions. I know these trucks inside and out. Already put 11000 miles on my new one!

I was looking at a 2012 Outdoorsman ( Canada) but the tax is killing me @15%. and of course out prices on trucks and any vehicle is higher up here than in the U.S. If my buddy is able to get the truck, it's in another province I could save close to $20,000 between a new 2012 sport and a 2011 sport, even with the deals that are going on this month

How do you figure, from what I understood, it is the same gear ratios as the 09-11. In extended range mode and tow mode, it gives you access to the top OD gear for better mileage. 2nd and 2ndP gears are still too close in ratio to be of any practical use. Still just the same 5 speed in normal drive mode. Hardly a huge difference. And our dealers in this area all advertise 10,000 off the 2012 Rams as well....
