2013 Ram Engine
I cant believe Dodge is offering the same v6 engine I have in my 2012 jeep wrangler ( 3.6 pentastar-285 horse) as a option in 2013 Ram at 305 horse. It will have an 8 speed auto trans behind it. That 3.6 is a tuff motor, but the jeep weights 3800lbs. I think Dodge mite be alittle off with this application.

At best, it might beat the ford in a fuel miledge race, but thats about it.

It really all comes down to application. I highly doubt there will be many (if any) of the 3.6 put into Quad/Crew cab 4x4's.
But, where they would make a good application is for construction sites, go for trucks, etc. Reg cab, long box 2wd seems like where most of the 3.6 will end up IMO.

I had a 2006 Ram 1500 Q Cab 6 speed manual good truck engine never gave me any kind of problems at all but it was way under powered for that much weight of the truck and the MPG was not all that great.
I now have a 2012 Crew cab 4X4 it gets about the same MPG and it gets about the same MPG as the old 2006 ram did.
For me I will never buy a V6 in a full size truck ever again.
Then again the 2012 is the last truck I ever buy it has a lifetime factory warranty.

I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. I think the motor will do fine in a Ram pickup, especially since they're going to use an 8 speed. Be aware the Jeep guys have been seeing head failures on this motor. It's always the driver's side head and starts with ticking that progresses into a CEL with a misfire. Many hundreds of heads have been replaced. They revised the head design during the summer and there's been a second revision since then. The new head design might have fixed it. Nobody knows for sure. Chrysler has been pretty good about the warranty repairs. No trouble with mine so far.
