Looking for a set for my 2013 Laramie. What have you bought, likes and dislikes and fit. Pictures would be great, thanks

The Mopar heavy duty is what I run. Flat rubber flaps, not the molded ones - they do a good job of keeping stuff off the sides.

Do they require drilling? I had the Weathertech no drill models on my 06' and loved the simple installation. I would rather not drill any holes since any time you drill a hole you are exposing bare metal to then be attacked by rust.

What i did not like was the way they overlapped a good portion of the lower rocker panel. It just seemed to me like that could trap sand and grit and over time damage the paint and lead to rust.

I'm looking for a set for my 11' and would like to know the best choice as well.

Anytime you must drill a hole, treat with primer and then use a neutral base rtv sealant over the hole. It keeps the moisture out and will not rust. Electronic silicone is best used for this.

When I took out my fender flares, the bolts that hold them on rub against the paint. I touched the paint up and then used my electronics RTV over the top to protect the finish from rusting. I guess I'm the only freak that would do such a thing..lol

Yup, the mopar ones require drilling. You can prime/paint if you like but the self tapping screw will remove it for you

That's why you pre-drill, clean up any burrs, and then apply rtv on the front side you screw into. It will seal everything up as you put the screw into place. Then, dab from the backside to finish the job.

To just screw some flap on and call it a day is negligence..lol I guess if your not in the rust belt it's not too much of an issue, but even perfectly painted vehicles rust out here in NY. No need to give it a helping hand.

LOL - MN not in the rust belt. You will not get the threads on a self tapped screw to hold paint and RTV is not recommended for painted surfaces.

I have the moulded Mopar flaps and they are pre drilled to the body holes , been on 5 years with no side effects of rust from the factory screws .

The idea is to trap and surround the scored/unpainted surface just like if you were to use dielectric grease on a connection. If you pre-drilled, then put a blob on front surface, the RTV will most definitely get everywhere and squish all over when you screw and suck the flap up tight.
And I think you missed my original post(#5) where I said....

....
because of course, standard RTV is acidic and causes corrosion.
