In the last few days I've managed to finish the under-hood panel, make the mold for the trim ring, along with a couple other things. I may finish up enough to maybe do a final test fit sometime this weekend. After that will be tying up all the loose ends, painting everything that's going to be painted, then on to the final install. FINALLY after 2 months (weekends and spare time) starting to see the finish line! There are a few new pictures showing the latest progress in my PHOTO ALBUM.

Awesome sauce man, I'd love to get my hands on a set up like that for my rig.

Going to take a little longer to finish this than I thought, forgot I had some other things scheduled this coming weekend. But I should be able to finish up the following weekend (Oct.11-12).

How would a shaker hood handle rain? My mind is having bad thoughts.

With a washable, re-usable filter I don't think there will be much of a problem. Plus I'm incorporating a pretty good drain system. Now SNOW might be a problem. But since we (almost) don't get snow here in Florida, I'm willing to give it a try. If I go ahead with making more of these, and because of the snow and harsh weather in other areas, I think I'll also look into making a basically fake shaker that will only look the part, but still use a stock-type intake. That way you can have the look, but without any un-forseen problems. Also be good for areas that have strict emissions regulations. Pretty much like the new Challenger Shakers. It would look basically identical to the real set-up with the hood open or closed, just be only for looks. That way we'll have both covered.

Today I bonded the under hood panel to the hood and sprayed it white to match. Now to finish up and paint the bubble and trim ring black over the next couple of days. Finally getting close to final assembly.

I had a shaker on my Dakota for 2 years... rain/snow never seemed to bother anything... I live near Chicago. I got rid of it only because it was a wreck repair and it never really came out right as well as the fact that I did not have the right base for it so the bubble was just attached to the underside of the hood. (Keystone would not sell me the correct base... I tried for 2 years before selling the hood.)

You should have made your own base, it's really not that hard to do, especially with fiberglass. Plus there are a lot of other materials and techniques available to do almost anything.

It's a nice idea I just do not have the skill to do it.

The weatherstripping to seal the shaker to the underside of the hood is on back-order, should be here sometime next week. Oh well, I'll get everything else done, and hopefully finish this up next weekend (the 18th. and 19th.) Pictures to follow ASAP.
