Great info OldJeep.

So basically, this is not a new recall just punishment for acting so slow on the existing recalls. Makes sense as we all heard about the pinion recall but it took months before anything happened and I am sure it was month's before we heard about it that they actually knew about it.

Sounds like that is the case. Odd that there were 2009-2012 trucks involved in the pinion nut issue. Must have had a large parts stock before the issue was found.

I guess I'll wait to see what if anything they send out, can't see it being worth selling when I would buy another one exactly like it.

Ok, I just read through the consent order on the NHTSA website. Looks like the "repurchase program" is only going to be for those that have not had the problem fixed yet. And the three recalls are as you described. Go to the website, click on the consent order and check out section 35.

I tried to upload the PDF but it won't let me.

I think this explains it. Its essentially a deal they made to stay out of even more trouble because they were not handling the repairs very well. There is also a recall for older Jeeps to get the rear mount gas tank moved or to trade it in for over market value. http://www.dallasnews.com/business/a...ecall-deal.ece

So I'm thinking this may actually help Dodge sell some more trucks.

If you read the article from the USDOT, that was posted above:
They will start with your purchase price and then subtract depreciation.
They do not state how depreciation will be calculated, but I bet it's KBB trade value or lower.

Then they have to add 10% to that price and buy it from you which is really only a few grand. And if they low ball you enough on the depreciation price, it may turn out to be what you would have gotten in a trade anyway.

So guess what? You now need a new truck. Since you're a Dodge person, you're getting another Dodge.

I guess I got luck with my 2013. Looked both on the NTSB and Chrysler site, no recalls listed.

As for my fellow Ram owners, be safe and hope it works out for repairs if you are affected.

I haven't heard or seen anything else on this, which years and models are affected.

Models included in the buyback offer are certain Ram 1500s from 2009 to 2012; the Ram 1500 Mega Cab 4 by 4 from 2008; and the Ram 2500 4 by 4, 3500 4 by 4, 4500 4 by 4, and 5500 4 by 4, all from 2008 through 2012. Also part of the offer are 2009 Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango SUVs and the Dodge Dakota pickup from 2009 through 2011.

This is all the info I have on it, RAM will likely be coming out with a list of exactly which models are affected.

Sucks, mines a 2011 1500 SLT :| just don't know yet...
