Exclamation 2014 Ram 6.4 wrist pin failure - engine replacement

Have a 2014 Ram 2500 with a 6.4 hemi and 38,000 miles; started knocking and towed to dealer on July 8th. Dealer informed me the engine needed to be replaced due to incorrect wrist pins being installed in engines manufactured from June 2014 thru October 2014. Ram issued a Service Bulletin but no recall.

I would think this will affect a large number of engines and think it should have been addressed as a recall when first discovered.

I have been informed a new engine may be available on August 30th.

Dodge has made no attempt to obtain an engine sooner than the 2 months being experienced and they have demonstrated a don't care and stop bothering me attitude whenever I call the Detroit case manager.

Oh yeah, the August 30th date is not guaranteed.

Anyone owning an engine manufactured in the above time frame may very well experience what I am experiencing and Dodge is hoping the power train warranty period is up before it happens.

Try and get them to give you an extended powertrain contract. Yeah, I know the parts pipeline is a joke these days. It's bad for my income as well.

Already inquired as to powertrain warrant starting when new engine installed; they said no. Even tried to reach company president and keep getting denied access.

Very disturbing way Chrysler is being run.

In Arizona and truck & 5th wheel in Utah; trying to get 5th wheel back here while waiting on engine. Dealer been real good on storing in their lot.

Hi Jim,

I'm sorry for the frustration. Your case manager has been working with both the dealership and the Business Center to get that engine sooner, and they are having an issue on the manufacturing end. I wanted you to know that they have made multiple attempts, but are hitting a roadblock at the moment.

Don't understand their having an issue with manufacturing and hitting a roadblock. Who manages Chrysler?

It would seem to me Chrysler would know who in manufacturing can address this issue.

This lack of service and lack of respect for your customers is hard to fathom. I would think Chrysler would know, even though they manufacture cars they are still in the service business.

I can only imagine the problems we will experience when we ask for reimbursement for costs we have and will incur due to this situation. Who do we contact to deals with these costs?

Exclamation 6.4 Hemi Failure

Kori:

Since not 1 person at Chrysler is able to tell me when I will have a new engine and all we hear are excuses and/or reasons why Chrysler is inept let's select one of the following options:

1. Chrysler can have my paid off 2014 Ram with all the after factory add-ons and Chrysler provide me with a new paid off 2016 Ram 2500 6.4 hemi Laramie 4x4 with the following aftermarket pieces I had added to my 2014: spray bedliner, 40 gallon aux. tank (coated as bedliner was coated), powersteps, bumper step and side step (we can select the color available from what's on dealers lot). We will sign over the clear title to Chrysler.

2. Or, Chrysler take an engine from one of the 2016 2500 6.4 hemi trucks sitting on the dealers lot and place it in my truck along with a new powertrain warranty period starting the day I take possession of the truck.

I feel both these are viable and acceptable options.

Since the case manager is now not answering or returning my calls I would appreciate a response to this proposal.

Thank you

Your case manager left a voicemail for you yesterday. I will document everything in the case to let him know your proposals, and he can follow up with you regarding whether or not these are viable options.

Exclamation Engine Replacement

Kori:

The last message and/or voicemail left by the case manager, on my phone number, was on July 22nd.

There is no record of a message and/or voicemail since that date.

Thank you

Exclamation

Morning Kori:

No return call or messages from case manager yesterday, August 3rd.

Picked up 5th wheel on Monday, August 1st, and dealer had parked in a secure area. We thank Larry Miller Dodge very much for that.

Thanks you,

Jim
