Default Peddle Commander?

Been a while but duty calls. Anyhow, was cruising You-Tube a couple weeks back and saw a video on the Peddle Commander for the Ram 1500. Anyone using it? Ups/downs? Amazon has them for 299.00, no HP increase from what I have read but they claim to make you throttle peddle a bit more responsive as in no more drag.
Thanks

Basically it's a little box that tells the PCM you are pushing harder on the gas pedal than you really are. You can achieve the same results by..... pushing the gas pedal harder......

Excellent relatively low cost mod that will have no effect on your warranty. Will make your truck more responsive. Has 30 some settings that you can adjust--on the fly if you like. No increase in hp or tq. only more responsive acceleration.

I don't currently have on on my Ram 1500, but I do have one on a small Toyota car. Heard the same "just press the pedal harder" bit but still gave it a try.

Seriously, while the manufacturer states that there is no HP changes, your mind is certainly fooled. The difference between Sport+ and simply putting my Toyota into it's own Sport mode with traction and VCS turned off is dramatic.

Sure Subaru WRX still beat my Toyota in street drags, but the lack of lag actually makes it respectable enough to raise eyebrows. Between the pedal commander and a cat back exhaust, many believe the "2014 corolla" has a turbo because of the immediate acceleration launch. Love how "The Fast Lane" calls the 2014 corolla a "baby Camry", would be awesome to have them try it again with the pedal commander installed. Sure, it'll always still be a "baby Camry", but the amount of throttle response that is delayed/reduced to push up it's MPG ratings is almost criminal for stock and the reason everyone mocks it as a fun sporty car because it's not sporty when stock.

The other interesting fact is if I turn on the "ECO" setting, it's far more than Toyota does, but then it's like a snail. I'd get 25.7MPG with the Sport +, 30MPG when running stock and finally 37MPG with the Eco. Remember, this is about a Toyota Corolla and has no direct relation to the Ram.

As to how this would equate on a Ram 1500? Tough to say

1. Disbelief that Chrysler robs so much throttle response, if there is more of a lag than expected to try and push up the MPG ratings. It's not that it's 20% less for example, it's that it ramps up slower too so that 20% reduction doesn't get overridden by a "stomp " even if NFL linebacker. It's stomp, delay at 20%, delay at 50%, little more lag now 75% and then finally 100%. Again, I have no idea what lag might exist with the Chrysler vehicles, with Toyota it was the above even when in the Corolla "Sport" mode on the S premium model. Sport + on the pedal commander is as if there where a cable to the throttle body instead of drive by wire.

2. Possibly 20% further fuel savings with ECO mode? Although I have to admit that I had to force myself to use it on the Corolla for a week to test. It was so laggy/sluggish that I feared trying to get into busy traffic. The only time I really switched to it, and you can on the fly, was to get up to full speed on the Freeway, go to cruise/speed control and then turn it on to ECO. On a Ram? I would do the same thing and think of it as always being super sluggish but fuel saving. You can change back with a few quick presses to the controller if it's mounted conveniently.

3. Expect many comments that say no way.

There is a 30 day 100% back per https://www.pedalcommander.com/produ...otor=5.7L%20V8 Want to create the video that dispels the Pedal Commander myth and how it has no impact? By one, record it and post it for us. I suspect however, the posting will be as a convert that says to get it.
