Supposedly not. It's the same 5 speed as before which is unfortunate, as I agree with you. Even though the tranny seems to have worked really well for Dodge I'd rather have a true 5 or 6 speed.

I wonder when that sequencial clutch 6 speed will be available? Or if there are adapter kits to bolt on the heavy duty 6 speed? That would be kinda' cool.

I agree. No one needs a 3speed w/2 overdrives.

yea they shoulda made it a real truck and taken away the auto period. lol. considering that the 4.7L only puts out like 30 less hp and has the six speed option id take the 4.7L every time. and i'd be willing to bet on a dyno the 4.7l six speed puts out more than a hemi with auto. just due to the parasitic loss from the auto.

Holy crap. I've had the 545RFE auto on two 4.7 Dakotas and while it had a mind of its own and downshifted way too early under light loads, I found it it to be as good of an auto tranny as any I've had before.

Now I have a new 2009 CC Hemi 4x2 TRX. Floor shift. Build date 3/2009 so it's been sitting on the lot for 9 months which is never good for any kind of rolling stock, or flying stock for that matter.

Only 65 miles since new and....

A block away from home, pulling away from a stop sign, the acceleration was way sluggish. Noticed the numeral "4" remained on in the little box below the odometer. (Does that indicate the actual gear the tranny is in?)

Pulling into my driveway the engine died. Would not re-start. Gear indicator showed an illuminated red "R" on the instrument panel, no matter where the shifter was positioned.

Hooked up my OBDII Scanner and it spit out the following trouble codes:

P0882 TCM Signal low
P0869 Transmission Fluid pressure high
P0846 Transmission Sensor B
P0871 Transmission Sensor C
P0876 Transmission Sensor D
P0988 Transmission Sensor E

After about a 30 minute wait, the engine started but the Check Engine light remained on.

In the few miles that I've driven the truck it never felt as though it was shifting correctly based on my experience with the same tranny in the Dakotas. But coupled up to the Multi-Displacement hemi, who knows.

Now the dealership gets to try and do it's magic.

You are spot on about the manual tranny but I'm 40 years past the age where I enjoyed double clutching and shifting and filling the wheel wells with burning rubber. It WAS fun though.

My 05 4.7 H.O. Dak CC with auto 4.10 gears, 30.6" tires and superchips 91 octane performance tune weighs in at 4700lbs (book specs)...0-60mph = 6.9 seconds.

My brand new 09 Ram CC TRX Hemi with 3.55 gears and 32.2" tires weighs in at 5400lbs (book specs)...haven't done a time trial yet (it feels faster than the Dak) but in the Motor Trend test it scored a 5.7 second 0-60mph (my guess it had the 3.92 gears) In the Edmunds test...7.6 seconds (maybe it had the 3.21 gears and 33" tires)

I got the Hemi for better towing performance in mountainous terrain. The Dak did well with the 4.10 gears except for headwinds which held me down to 50mph in third gear and sometimes required second/prime.

The 4.7 is 80 hp and 77 ft lbs of torque less than the Hemi. I'd rather have a stick also but not with the loss of 80 hp.
