RamBox Option

RamBox Option
So does anyone have any idea as to when the Rambox option will become available. It's the one option I am really waiting for (I'd like the rear back-up camera, but I don't know if I want to wait to order till Jan/09). Ive seen on some forum somewhere that they are supposedly building trucks with the RamBox.

2009 Dodge Ram launches with incentives, 'RamBox' costs $1,895. Expect to see the RamBox option come online in early November. Got this from http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/22/2...ox-costs-1-895. This is what I've been waiting on also. Wish it would hurry up, I want to get truck ordered as quickly as possible. Been checking Dodge.com everyday waiting for them to add it to the build your own options. Jeff.

HankL, about 6 or 7 years ago on my way home from the ranch I stopped in a small town just outside of San Antonio called Devine. I had bought a couple of Dakota's from the dealer there and stop just to look at what they had on the lot. There was a 2nd Gen ram with a fiberglass bed that had tool boxes built in just like the ram box, wasn't as nice as the ram box but very functional. That was the only one I have ever seen. Don't know who made but at the time felt like fiberglass just wouldn't hold up for my use. So somewhere out there is a template for this. Jeff.

You know that does ring a bell, at least the GM/Ford/Dodge part. Seems like it was on a sticker inside the lid. Although I didn't think the fiberglass would hold up long term at the ranch, it really was a nice option for those that spend most of their time on pavement. It did get me to thinking about how much easier it was to access a box from the side instead of the standard truck box. I ended up with Tuffy truck box that mounted over the wheel well but still left the center of the bed open all the way to the cab. I mainly just carry a small floor jack, jumper cables, and my receiver tow bar in the box so didn't really want a huge side to side box. It has worked out very well but having this option actually built into the bed and dust/water proof and lighted is the next step up. Jeff.
