OAT "outside air temp" Gauge
For those of us that just ordered trucks, are we going to have to go have all these problems fixed after delivery? Or should they come from the factory already corrected? (OAT, washer fluid leak, backup sensors, etc)
First model year vehicles can have a few small issues, especially the earlier build date such as min 09/08.
Hopefully these have been already corrected on the production line, generally these are as soon as they are found, it costs more to fix problems like this after the fact.

I just took my 09' 1500 to the dealership to have them fix the annoying CEL and Outside Air Temp problems. I had read in previous threads that the problem with the OAT was in the TIP module. I ran this by the mechanic and they said the problem is in the wiring harness.
Apparently this also affects the wiper control for the automatic wipers. The dealership told me that this was a known issue in late January and that a memo went out to the dealerships to change the wiring before selling the trucks to Joe Public.
Has anyone heard anything related to wiring / wiring harness issues tripping the CEL and screwing up the OAT sensor?

I just called my service writer and told him that my OAT still does not work properly. He looked up the latest opinion from Chrysler on their service website. The latest statements are that it is normal for the OAT to take "several" minutes to show the correct temp. It will display the last temp that it had in its memory until it updates. It also stated that if you drive short distances, that the gauge may not have enough time to display the correct temp. This is a bunch of crap. I have had 6 different vehicles with OAT displays and they show immediately what the OAT is the second you turn the key on, including my last 3 Mopar products. They said the fix RRT 09-010 was for readings that were way off and NEVER returned to the proper temp after several minutes. I can't believe that it is normal to have to wait 10-15 minutes to know the OAT.
