I Don't have a 3rd Gen, I have a 02 Ford right now.

Where did you get the idea I had a 3rd Gen?

I Believe you, it just seems strange to have more HP in the lighter duty truck.

do the 09 2500's have the same HP as say the 07's?

He meant you should look for info in the 3rd gen forum as that's what the 09 2500 actually is still. It's an overlap year just like 02 was.

As far as horsepower, my understanding is that because the engine will be under load more often or have more load applied to it (being a HD) it is slightly de-tuned to alleviate chance of ping or predetonation. Whereas the 1500 being lighter won't typically be worked as hard and thus can have a slightly better performance tune. Seems to be a common thread among all makes.

I guess that makes sense in a way.

i have a 2007 dodge ram 2500, with the cummins. the taillights are wired differently, but you can still put the older style smooth taillights on the truck, and recon lighting has LED taillights that fit the newer trucks as well. as for the hemi being down on power as compared to the 1500, it has to do with the 2500 being setup for having more power down low- for getting moving towing heavier loads. what does this mean for you? more grunt off the line, where it really matters.
