Bed cover options
Why dosent anyone like the "retractable" covers. Is it the cost? one of these with the electric motor and remote control seems like it would be cool. expensive as all hell, what am I missing? Ive owned lots of trucks but never bought a cover before. Im in the computer business so 60% of stuff i carry would fit below the cover. I do own a 4 wheeler and with the 5.7' bed it will only fit with the tailgate down
I guess the cover box at the front would make this condition worse)
Thanks

The retractables are cool but the "roll box" does suck up a little bit of room at the cab.
Im sold on the BakFlip models. Personally Im going with a HD model after reading and watching they're website.
They say the G2 Is good but the finish is Quality aftermarket looking but the HD has an extra coat of their epoxy coating and more metal in it, so it looks OEM. So for the extra 4 or 5 bill's Im going HD. Plus if I decide a CANOE is a good idea they got a rack that clicks on Lol
...Ya right on the canoe Im a motor guy Lol

There's also the extang solid-fold. They list one for the Rambox as well. Might be able to get a better price on the extang

Went ahead and ordered the Mopar cover from my dealer, expect to have it this week and will get some pictures up aSAP.
did you remove the black plastic trim on the top of the rails and tailgate?
and does that lock?
also, where did you end up buying it?
i really like the look of that cover.

This one does lock, there's a single key but a latch on each side of the bed.
When we were buying the truck we asked the dealer for options on getting a cover. Figured we might get a decent price that route. At first I figured they'd offer up the mopar fiberglass cover but this is the one they preferred. After reading the mopar instructions I think this is better just from the easier removal/re-install alone. It was $1000 added to the truck but did include the cover, paint and installation plus they gave us a new Laramie for a loaner for a few days to do the paint and installation.
It's taken awhile toget some pics, but...
This is the Mopar tonneau cover for the RamBox, folds in 3 pieces. I installed it last Friday (maybe about 45mins?) before a rainy week-end, and was pretty impressed that the box stayed dry. Not sure that this will last over time as I'm sure the rubber "gaskets" that fit between the cover and box will dryout/warp/crack, but pretty good to start.
For anyone who has had or seen the Chevy Avalanche covers, the front and rear panel of this cover locks in place in a similer way.

Got my new snuggtop friday, very happy with it, it has hidden hinges and shuts like a trunk lid on a car in that when it shuts it locks, have tried to post pictures but they are too big, trying again
