Cracked Windshield, #%@&*
$30 bucks? I am getting quotes of $50-$99.95. I talked to a few "pros" and got a few different stories. This one is better, no this one. The $50 guys said he made is own tool. Warranty is about the same, "if it spreads, we will credit you towards the price of a new windshield if we do the work." Wow, what a warranty. How about if it still looks like crap, I don't have to pay. I will try to get something done in the next day or so.
After talking to a few pros that repair windshields, they all told me that I would still see the white impact spot where the glass broke. The resin fill the air void between the layers of glass getting rid of the black lines. I did some research and decided that I could do that myself for about $10.00.
I looked at two products, one from Permatex and the other from Sopus called "Fix a Windshield". They both had good informative websites. I went with the Sopus product and in about 15 minutes, I was done. I filled the void with resin and top dressed it level with the rest of the windshield. You can see the white dot, but that is it. Final cost $10.79 with tax. There is enough resin to do another impact or two if necessary.
