Just got and installed my XDI intake a few hours ago. It looks great and boy does it make the truck scream at WOT.. i love it. Dunno when or if i'll see mgp gains cuz i like the sound of the engine so much at WOT. Oh well, who cares about mgp, we got our trucks to have fun and work, not save the planet.

It can all you need to do to avoid it is disconnect the neg. battery cable during install. This is usually in the intake install directions, but not everyone reads them.

Something you guys with REN and REZ radios, you should not just pull the negative battery cable when working on stuff you need to remove the fuse for the radio first, they say the surge can damage the radio. Just the REN for sure, not sure about any others. Its on that site This is what it says To Reset the MyGIG radio it is best to pull the vehicle radio fuse instead of unhooking the negative battery cable. This is especially important with models REN and REZ radios. Disconnecting and Reconnecting the battery can cause electrical spikes that may damage MyGIG REN and REZ radios.
