Does anyone know if this option includes an alarm?

i have the remote start... and when i installed my XDI intake yesterday i had to disconnect the battery. So when i reattached my negative lead my alarm went off...

so i would say yes.. the remote start includes an alarm

(one thing i dont like about this truck is when your walking away and you lock the doors, it honks. My f150 was silent unless you pressed it two times... in case you wanted your neighbors to notice you locked you truck lol)

I have the remote start (09, 2500). When I start the engine from inside the cab I get the alarm indicator light as you would for any of the indicator lights (test mode). However, when I lock the doors with the remote, the alarm indicator light does not go through its quick flash sequence as though arming. It also does not flash periodically to indicate it’s armed. Is there something that I have to do to get this to work? Is it broke? Or did I just not get the alarm?

Art.

I installed an Autostart 2 way LED remote starter - 3000 foot range.
Factory 1 way system has a pathetic range.

2 way led is aftermarket. A 2 way pager is a 2 way communication. You push the lock on your pager, your pager sends a signal to the truck to lock, your truck locks, then the truck tells the pager it is locked, then the pager tells you your truck is locked. It's a 2 way conversation and not a one so your truck can tell you if someone is breaking in or where on your truck it's being touched, etc etc

I think the range on the factory remote start is just fine. It's like 1000 ft which is plenty for me and I don't have to carry around another FOB or remote thingie.

To do the setup through the EVIC for the honk or no honk, you first need to have the EVIC. Scroll down with the up down arrows on the steering wheel to the last option, Setup. This can only be done when the vehicle is in park. Hit the arrow pointing right to enter setup and then scroll down the options. You can have the truck honk or not honk when it's locked, unlocked, and remote started. You can also configure for the lights to come on, how long they stay on for, etc. It's some pretty useful stuff.

Oh, and yes, if you have the remote start option then your truck does have an alarm - but it will only go off if someone opens a door when the alarm was armed (happens when you lock the truck).
