Default remote locking tailgate??

i was ebay the other day, and found a mopar kit that adds remote locking feature to the factory locking tailgate. it says you need to already have the factory installed locking gate. my truck doesnt have it, so if i buy the mopar addon kit (same as factory installed), then i should be able to add the remote kit, right? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-...Q5fAccessories

PLEASE NOTE: Your 09 Ram 1500 must have keyless entry(GXM), power locks (JPB)
and a manual locking tailgate (XJJ)for this item to work.

If you've got the other 2 necessary items and you add on the locking tailgate, then yes, it should work. I saw that today as well and was considering it. But when I get the locking tailgate I'm going to want a cover, and when I get a cover I'll need a bedrug, and I'll want a backup camera to mount in the new tailgate, so I'll need that and a lockpick.... and it just keeps adding up.

I just got off the phone with a local dealer. The description that he read to me over the phone sounded very much like this:
http://www.authenticdodge.com/p2450/...duct_info.html
Price he quoted was $106.00. Does this sound like the same thing you guys have found? If so I will be very interested in how it works out for you, especially the wiring. It would be great if this kit plugged into existing wiring without having to “tap into” the wires.

Art.

thats the one. book price is $102 per mopar accesseries 09 catalog. ive got a feeling youll have to splice into one of the door harnesses for the locking, or into tipm. im thinking about going with one of the passenger doors. so my 1st button press still does only drivers, 2nd will do all others (including tailgate). mine should be here in about a week, so ill let you guys know what the instructions say, and how clear they are.

From the description in the link, it sounds like it comes with the lock and keys? So all you really need is the tailgate handle with a place for the lock to go, right?

my kit came in today. didnt open it all the way up, just took out a few parts. comes w/ a bracket, solenoid, wiring and a few other things. didnt look through the instructions either. i had our parts guy check how much the locking handle is. there are 3 different handles: w/out locking, w/ locking (XJJ), and an XJJ & XAC. XJJ is about $50, XJJ & XAC about $400. we looked up the XAC sales code--back up camera. so i think its safe to say that you can get the tailgate handle w/ BOTH locking and camera. be pretty sweet if so. but for now ill just go w/ regular locking, maybe upgrade later.

Did you send it back and get the standard one? I posted a full walk thru with everything you need for that locking conversion.
