Default Ram box's

I got a good look at the Ram box and here are my thoughts.

Stick with aftermarket type that slides behind the rear window. I was surprised how much rear cargo area the box's take up, now I understand the crew cab is not going to a hauler ( ie 8 foot box ) and you can tow a trailer for your cargo.

I have more room and tools in my storage bin behind the rear seat of my 06 reg cab.

Default ram box

I bought the ram box and actually work out of my truck, not just driving it to a office parking lot. I have always had a tool box mounted to the bed and took up 24" of the bed and on a 5'7" bed . That would leave you 43" of bed left so I started to do research on the RAM BOX

In between the fender wells you have 51 1/2" on the crew and the ram box [ same]. The only area you loose is the corners front and back.

The tool box always went right up to the fender wells.

So if you do the math I have more sq. ft. on the RAM BOX working out of the truck.

I parked the truck , unloading insulation boxes at the [BOSS HOG BOWL] the new Dallas Cowboy Stadium and had 6 guys come up asking " open up let me them" and then asking about the rest of the truck.

I guess being my 1st dodge, I guess i partial to the ram.

Default rambox

I ordered mine with RamBox. After looking at pictures and seeing measurements, it appears to me that the RamBox is really no different than the old StepSide Fords and the like. On those, the bed sides ran along the inside of the wheel wells also. But on the RamBox, instead of having those steps on the outside of the bed, we have storage. So, my wife went to the dealer and looked at both for me, since I am not there, and she said the same thing. I carry a lot of stuff loose that used to clutter up the back seat of my Dakotas, like an EMT jump bag and the like. Now I can lock that stuff out in the RamBox and keep it out of the cab.

I think the rambox is a great idea, especially if you "work" out of your truck.

For $1900 I passed.

I don't think they look bad at all, I actually think they blend rather nicely!

Way Way overpriced!

When I was shopping around, it took forever just to find a truck with the rambox. I finally found one and right away thought that I wanted one. I then walked over to the window sticker and saw the option cost $1895. That changed my mind right away. I couldn't justify the price.

If you need a box for tools and storage, you should consider the Ram box. It is pricey, but you are going to spend $400 for a box that shortens your bed. For $1400 more, you get the best available. I wish they were cheaper, but there is a lot to them and they are integrated beautifully. If you put an aftermarket box in the crew, the bed is too short for much of anything.

True... and the reality of it is $1895 is MSRP and we are not paying MSRP so the real cost of the rambox would be $150 - $300 cheaper than $1895 listed on sticker.
