Default Oil Change at 2500 Miles?

I heard a ding when I started my truck and noticed that I have a message. It says "Oil Chang Due". I've only got 2500 miles on the truck. I hope that this is not something typical of this truck. Maybe it knows that this is the first oil change and I should change it early?

Has anyone else had their oil change message come up this early?

Do you take a lot of short trips, start the truck many times during the day? Does your oil look dirty? If not, you could reset the system. Excerpt from the manual.

CHAngE OIL
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change indicator system. The
CHAngE OIL message will flash in the instrument cluster odometer for approximately
12 seconds after a single chime has sounded to indicate the next scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil change indicator system is duty cycle-based, which
means the engine oil change interval may fluctuate dependent upon your personal driving style. Unless reset, this message will continue to display each
time you turn the ignition switch to the ON position. To turn off the message temporarily, press and release the Trip Odometer button on the instrument cluster. To reset the oil change indicator system (after performing the scheduled maintenance) refer to the following procedure. 1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position
(Do not start the engine). 2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly three times within 10 seconds. 3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.

NOTE:
If the indicator message illuminates when you start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not reset. If necessary repeat this procedure.

I drive about 130 miles each day, but the last 30 are in stop and go freeway traffic. I checked the oil, it's up to the correct level and it's not even dirty yet. I think I just going to reset the message and just change it at 5000 miles and then reset the oil change indicator then too.

Hmm.... approaching 2,000 and nothing yet, but should know soon. I hope this doesn't continue every 2,500 miles or so, especially if the oil really does look clean.
