resonators removal
Thank you guys. I didn't want to waste 70 bucks when it could be used to fill the tank instead of handing to someone to cut a pipe. I am definately going to get my resonators removed now that I have seen what you posted. I will poast after and let you know if it is a :-) or a :-(
07 Ram 1500 QC 4x4 Installed Aero Turbine 3030XL muffler ( http://www.aeroexhaust.com/ )with both stock resonator, little louder that stock, untill you punch it. notice some low end torque loss, also notice increase in torque rpm above 3800 rpm.
This was also true on my 4cyl installed header pipe and cat back system notice low end torque reduction, increase in torque around 4k rpm.
I spoke my local exhaust guy, he told me if you want more growl, remove the front resonator.

I'm still not convinced that the stock muffler is very restrictive. Look at it this way: If someone told you that they had a pair of mufflers that could support 780 honest hp, you'd probably be interested. Well, your dodge dealer does-2 of the stock mufflers on these trucks. Thought of that way, they're not so restrictive are they? Plenty of folks put dual aftermarket mufflers on all kinds of stuff and don't make the 390 hp our trucks do stock.
Sure, they're big. ANY muffler that can flow enough for this much power while being whisper quiet HAS to be big. Now, if you want a louder tone, fine, replace/remove the muffler. I just don't agree that the stock muffler is very restrictive, at least not without someone doing something halfway scientific like measuring backpressure at WOT or putting one on a flowbench, etc.

Well if the exhaust rusts where you cut it ya it will be affected but as far as anything else the resonator is just to kind of put a screaming child into a machine and they come out with a nice smooth not annoying sound.
Would that analogy work for you guys?

I think I would take them off if I had to because I don't like the factory tips, for one you can see the other pipe inside....looks cheap that way, should be chrome as far back as you can see. I think you could get some loudness if you were to put a pipe that widens as it gets to the tip.
My resonator is gone for different reasons, like the fact it was poorly secured by me and ended up in the road, ran over and in a ditch...
I love the sound, but hate the feeling that something is missing...
So, i caved in. Im swapping my rear bumper out to dual cutouts. Ive also purchased the 16870 magnaflow exhaust system. The system gets rid of the resonators.
I hope to have everything done by Sunday, weather permitting.
