Sure, insurance covers it but how long do you think it will take you to get a new painted tailgate? (New model year and painted = a loooong time)

I had my 3 gen tailgate stolen in a parking lot : not fun

It took forever to get a new one (backordered) , and then have the dealer paint it & install the emblems

I got the new tailgate the night before I left for a fishing trip (took 5 weeks!!!)

The hose clamp is a GREAT idea
