"Discontinued" Hemi MDS VCT
My 09 Quad w/Hemi was built 12/08, has the locking tailgate, but DOES NOT, have the MDS light.
Quite frankly, Im very disappointed. I like techy things like that, and everyone is saying that the December built trucks should have it. I went into the setup function of hte EVIC and there is no selection to turn it on.
Why dont I have this? Oh, and the sticker says VCT.
Now why does one person with a 12/08 VCT truck have the light, while another one doesnt?

My Hemi has an August "08 build date and is an MDS VCT engine without the light. It sat on the dealers lot until June 9, 2009 at which point, this dealer, was booted out of the clan and on that day gave be a drop dead great deal price on the $42,000.00 unit. He told me that he had to pay Chrysler $1,700.00 each to take his Chrysler/Dodge stock. Talk about being SCREWED!!!!
To those who have the light does it do anything for you knowing that you are running 4 cylinders? Do you try hard to keep in, I drive mine so that the dam thing won't come on. I wish there was a way to get rid of it to tell you the truth.
Why? It doesn't affect performance, and it increases gas mileage.
You can turn the light off through the EVIC.

2009 Dodge Ram SLT QC Built 2/09 VCT with Light. You can't feel the shift to 4 cyls when it occurs or when all 8 fire up again...because the pistons are still moving mainly. You really won't notice it is even there...with the exception that you see the light and try to drive it more which is distracting....along with the MPG calculations.

I have to disagree. I can feel it kick in an out. Granted it is nothing bad at all, but it is there. It is also more noticable kicking in an out when at slower speeds (under 40). I have also noticed RPMs change when it comes on. Mine will go up about 50 or so when it kicks in.
For those that want to know....
Build was late feb early march
VCT (must have been one of the last) with MDS light.
