Talking Drop in Pendaliner

Ok I was going to get the Mopar liner for my truck but after the dealer pissed me off I changed my mind. Anyway I found a truck accessory shop that is selling the Pendaliner drop in bed liner for $148 installed. Great price but they also offered to install a paint saver pad between the liner and the truck bed for an extra $30.

Now about 5 years ago I had this same setup installed in my old 97 Chevy 1500 and all the pad was some little foam sheet. Now my question is do you think this is a good option to protect the paint or do you think this will only prevent moisture from drying out under the liner? I did not keep my old truck long enough to see any of the effects the pad might have had so any input before I pick my liner up on wednesday afternoon would be appreciated.

does the pad go up along the sides or is it like a bed mat that sits on the bottom, in between the wheel wells? what is it made of? could you buy carpet padding and cut to fit for cheaper?

It sits on the bottom and on the top of the wheel wells only (not up the sides). The foam was not like any carpet padding that I have ever seen. I would think most carpet padding would only soak up the water and get moldy.

Talking Pendaliner

The place I purchased the liner at was JR's Truck Accessory Center (phone number 770-419-2799) in Marietta just north of White Water on HWY 41.

The receipt totaled out like this

Pendaliner: $124.95
Installation: $15.00
Paint saver pad: $24.95

Total: $173.89 (w/tax)

For the price I am very pleased. Also I did obviously spring for the pad. I will see how well it holds up.

Yeah and if anyone's looking in Charlotte I found a guy down here that's gonna do mine for $139 installed (no pad though).

Thanks thinkharderchri. I'm getting mine put in on Wednesday in Alpharetta. Exact same price. I was going to go cheap with a bed mat for about $100, but for another $75 I'd rather have the whole bed protected.

I have found that the best solution to drop in bedliner and scratches is to leave the bedliner in. Its a truck bed who cares about scratches?

Exactly. I've never known anyone to take them in and out.
