I like them. I have basically the same truck as you and I think and little extra chrome really brings the black out. I picked me up some nerf bars off Ebay for less than $200 shipped and I think they look good.

I also bought some bed rails for $129 shipped and hopefully they ought to look good on the pickup.

Hate to throw a few practical questions in, but...
How do they do for your ground clearance ?? The cab skirt already goes down about as low as the bottom of the frame rails, it seems the step will be the lowest point. Mine won't be going out rock-crawling, but there are 10-12" deep ruts and rocks on the back-roads and trails that I frequent. I'd hate to hang on the rail if it seriously changes the break-over angle / height.
How tall is the step left from side-step into the cab ?? Does it make a good 60-40 split in distance from the ground ??

They have about 10 1/2 inches clearance from the lowest point to the ground, and if I remember correctly I read they were made out of 16 gauge stainless steel. I can feel a little bit of flex in them sometimes when I step on them and jump into the cab so I kinda highly doubt the would hang up on a rock while off-roading they would probably be more liable to bend actually. You kind of have me curious as to what kind of clearance the factory ones have now.

I like the Amp Research retractable steps as well (had them on my lifted 08 Ford F250 FX4), but for some reason there a lot more pricey for the new Rams (my shop that I get great discounts on quoted me $1600 installed versus the $1100 I paid for the F250).

I am keeping mine that came from the factory. I actually think they look good if you have the Laramie or SLT with the chrome bumpers (as far as factory steps go). I don't think they bad on my red two tone either.

MOPAR has two side rails listed for the RAM, a regular one and then one that is wheel-to-wheel. I've got a crew cab, so which one is the better one if I'm not looking to climb into the bed from the side?

They extend the same distance forward. The difference is at the back. The shorter of the 2 ends at the back of the cab, the other one stops just short of the wheel. I think theres a $50 price difference.

So if you don't need access at the front of the bed, save yourself some cash, and get the cab length steps. I installed a set a few months ago.

Cool, thanks Iron. I think those are exactly the ones I've seen on all the SLTs and Laramies around town.

Default Nasta Tube Steps

Actually I got a set of Nastas. The guy said they would fit but I had to modify the brackets to clear the body. Maybe if I did something different they would have cleared but I was tired and was tired of fooling with them. The kit was for the 2002-up and they fit fine other than the height.

The truck is high enough that a lack of bars can cause shorter people issues getting in and out. Does not affect me,I am 6'2", but I know a few short girls it bothers. Do not **** off the women, they can make your life hell.
