Proud New Owner w/ a few Questions
Hello everyone. I came across this forum last month while I was researching the new Ram 1500. Great forum, and very informative.
I had just about given up hope on finding the Ram I wanted (3.92 gears, uconnect tunes, sport group (love that Alpine stereo!)), but last Tuesday I searched the inventory of a few dealers and finally found what I was looking for. I made the deal Wednesday (sight unseen) on a Stone White 4x4 Sport Quad cab. I picked it up Thursday from the dealer and have been smiling ever since. The Dodge boys sure hit a home run with this pickup, in my humble opinion.
I wasn't really interested in a white vehicle, but the Stone White looks better than I expected. I knew before I bought the Ram there would be problems with dirt from the tires getting on the sides of the truck because the tires are wider than the fenders. I had the dealer install the molded mud flaps, but they don't help much. It's too bad Dodge only puts the fender flares on certain models. This brings me to my first question: Has anyone found aftermarket fender flares for the new Rams?
My second question relates to the uconnect tunes. I've loaded about 10gb of mp3s so far, and I find that during playback many of the songs don't start at the beginning; they start about 1-2 seconds into the track. I have these same mp3s loaded on my walkman, and they play fine there, so I know the files are not the problem. Has anyone else using uconnect tunes encountered this problem?
I tried calling uconnect support, but they told me that number is only for questions w/ the uconnect phone. They told me to call the regular support number, but the gal who answered directed me back to the uconnect number. So, instead of going in circles w/ support, I figured I'd post it here instead.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post.

Congrats on the new truck! I actually wanted a two-tone Laramie because I thought the white looks pretty good too, and I wanted the flares as well, but also all the features and the tan interior you can only get in the Laramie. But my dealer didn't have any left so I settled for my second choice which was the Inferno Red. Now I am glad I did as I love the dark red pearl effect (pic below).
Anyway, I don't have anything to offer on the uconnect tunes issue as I have not tried loading mine yet. But I know there are some aftermarket flares available now. Try these out from Bushwacker:

Here's some Bushwacker Street Flares for sale on ebay:

Good luck and enjoy your new ride!

Does anyone know if there's an owner's manual for the uconnect tunes? Maybe I could find the answer there.
I'm sure glad I got the Alpine stereo. It sounds great IMO. My girlfriend got the "premium" stereo in her 2001 Ford Escape, but it sure doesn't compare to this one.
Here are a couple of threads here.

I played a few CDs, and each song plays from the beginning. Would a setting like you mentioned affect CD playback as well?
