Default New guy here.

Hello all! Just got a '09 Ram 4x4 Crew SLT Bighorn on Wed. I really like it and I think I got a pretty good deal. I got between 10-11K off sticker (I had a trade in so it is kind of hard to figure out exactly) and I took advantage of the 0% financing for 4 years! I know some you got 12-14 off sticker, but dealers aren't as hungry up here in North Dakota.

Does anybody think that the "fuel saver" light can be programmed into my ram, I have an early model? From what I see the spot/light is there it is like it just needs to be turned on. I would think that they just do it with software.... .

I seem to be getting 14-16 mpg on the highway, driving nice. Does gas mileage get better after "break - in?" If so how many miles should I expect?

I have been reading about the magnaflows getting better mileage, can anybody confirm that? I really don't care to make it louder, just looking for a few extra mpg.

Any other proven MPG mods - not intake. I will not do an air intake, the filters always suck so bad on them you might as well just run without a filter. There is a reason every OEM that I can think of, uses paper.

Welcome
-Sarguy's been working on the fuel saver light but for now you'll have to live without
-yes mpg should increase as the engine breaks in, you'll see a steady increase at about 2000, thats how it was for me at least
-there is no proof of mpg gains from exhaust on this forum
-intakes about the only mod yet that seems to increase mpg

Welcome.

I have the right wires to make an MDS light, I have pictures, I just need to rewrite and post it.

As far as paper filters are concerned, I will take a K&N over paper any day. I have had one in every vehicle I have ever owned and never once had a problem.

Sweet, let us know when you get the MDS light done!

About the K&N...........I don't want to start a flame war, but if you knew what the OEM engineers knew about air filtration, you wouldn't touch an "oil bath" filter.

If somebody built an intake that featured a nice big paper filter protected from the rain, I would be interested.

Please do so when you get a chance, I'd like to rig a light to see when in MDS mode.
