These trucks can go up to 7,500 miles between oil changes, but once again, it depends on your driving style. I only needed an oil change every 10,000 miles or so on the vette, but I got them every 5,000 b/c they were free.

I am a master auto tech for chrysler jeep and dodge and I would never go over 3000 miles on regular oil or 5000 miles with synthetic oil,

Why would you not want to keep your engine in top shape, thats done by doing regular maintence and oil is the lifeblood of any engine.

If the warning comes on it needs to be changed dont be cheap!

Take care of your truck.

I have run vehicles well into the 200K range over the years. I always used regular oil and changed it with new filter every 3,000 miles. Never had one lick of problems with any of those engines.

I agree. Oil changes are cheap insurance to extend engine life.

I think the oil estimation crap is bs because even if you change your oil, it still comes on and it came on precisely at 6,000 miles.

Also the dodge manual stresses the fact of not going past 6,000 miles even if the computer doesnt come on.

I go every 5,000 miles.

I wonder how many miles it is set for on the 4.7L . It's no biggie because I got 12 free oil changes with my deal.

The oil change light on these trucks is based on duty cycle I believe, not a set number of miles or oil flow. I am pretty sure this is stated right in the owners manual.

I will not follow the light. Mine will get changes every 5K with M1 syn. When the light comes on I will just rest. I would be shocked if it comes on before 5k anyhow, I do not beat on it very much.

I'm going to do the exact same thing. There is absolutely no reason why, when using a quality synthetic motor oil (or even a quality regular oil) along with a quality oil filter, you can't go 5,000 miles between oil changes in everything but the most severe cases.
