Default Is it really a 32 Gallon Tank?

So after putting close to 4k miles on my truck, I thought I'd ask if anyone else is having a similar experience. I noticed from the first time I filled up that it seems like it takes fewer gallons to fill up a 32 gallon tank than it should. If the low fuel light is on and the range to empty counter is ready 50-75 miles, by my guess it should take about 28-29 gallons to fill up, but instead it usually takes 25-27 gallons. Does this seem strange to anyone else?

well there might be some kind of extra reserve for the "just in case" purpose

I thought the same thing with my tank, its also 32 gallons. The most I've ever put in mine was 29 gallons and that was running on "LOW FUEL" for a while. When it starts to say LOW FUEL, I get about 26-27 gallons in.

Only way to tell is to put a 5gal container of gas in the back once the low fuel light comes on -- and see what happens.

I let mine run down to the "low fuel" warning (which is not the same as the low fuel warning icon, it's when the range indicator falls to zero). I was able to get about 28.5 gallons in. I would suspect it's a 32 gallon tank (someone could sue or force a buyback if not), but it must have a 3-4 gallon reserve to account for the fact that the tolerance of the sensors for the fuel level warning have some variation and they do not want someone to run out when it still shows some range on the EVIC. That would seriously pi$$ some people off.

Ya, can't always believe what you see on the gauge or EVIC. My 03 SAAB said I had 40 miles left till empty with the light on though. Got about 15 miles and she was out of gas, atleast not enough for the fuel pick-up to suck any. My rule of thumb now is to fill when the light comes on or before. Usually fill up at 1/4 tank anyway.

I have put in over 31 gallons. So yes, it's a 32 gallon tank. The EVIC counter is lame anyway. At 30 miles remaining it goes to "LOW FUEL", you lose the counter. Lame.

I have never run out but when my light comes on the gauge is showing completly empty,. so much so that I have a hard time trusting the evic,. I have never put over 30 gal at 1 time in mine before it is full

Mine does the same thing with the 26 gallon tank. I have run it down to the warning light twice, and both times it would only take ~20 gallons.
