Default not good! 430miles. coolant blowing all over....

well, was going to the movies about 3 miles from my house. (65deg. in mich)

got out. a **** ton of antifreeze on the ground. cant really see where its comin from. i hurry up, hop in it, monitor my temps via evic and drive it home.

the max it heated up to was 215 for about 1/2 mile then i shut her down. so im not worried about the overheating part. the mech. needle was barely above half and it read 215deg. now i crawled under the truck. pulled off the plastic cover underneath the ratiator ect. had my bro inlaw start it. couldnt get any leaks to form ect. no lights, bells nothing. so i guess i might put some more antifreeze in it tommorow and see if i can spot something before i go through the hassle of getting it towed to the dealer......

is their a tsb for radiator's?

Would have driven her straight to the dealer. You shouldn't even have to try and "SPOT" something on a brand new truck, unless you were manhandling it which doesn't seem to be the case.

well, im a little relieved. i went and checked the oil cap, and dipstick for signs of coolant. none spotted. the motor was running fine,i.e. not missing, no blown headgasket. actually i think im going to get off work, have the dealer tow it, not chance anything.

Could it have been a puddle that was there before you got there?

I don't think everyone should rush to the dealer just to turn a screw, hell check your antifreeze in the morning see if it's low, if not you probly parked in a puddle of it....what colour are they using in the 09"s the longlife red stuff? or cheapo greean 2 year change stuff? When you go to the dealer it affects the quality rating now think if there is nothing wrong some how the numbers get affected and makes the quality rating a false low. Start it at least in the morning and see what happens leave it sit and check the temp 215 is fairly normal for city driving is it not? Not boiling yet. Worse part even if nothing is wrong now that the dealers are not doing so well they could change a water pump or something expensive to make money but makes the quality reading go down. Not right, I know for sure it happens, had a friend that worked in a relatively large dealership. I had a Neon trips in to fix the ac and all it was was the relay that turns on the second fan up front, it would over heat and the fan would kick off and then of course the a/c 5 trips and then they kept it a week to be sure it was okay, They told me and I made them write it on the receipt they let it run 7 hours idling with the air on. Man I did not want that car after but it turned out to be okay.

Personally if my $35000 truck is leaking radiator fluid or does have a simple problem whatever it may be its going to the dealer, thats what a warranty is for, and when you pay that much you shouldn't have to have any problems for awhile. Thats just me.

ok, im feeling a little better. sort of as i hoped. picked something up while driving, bounced around and punctured the radiator. you can see the gouges on the plastic fan that sits right on the radiator.... they said TECHNICALLY its not a warranty issue because it was road damaged.... but they are fixing it anyway... oh, they are so generous.
