I haven't posted, but I can. What is the best method to post?

I too am looking to change mine. I don't see why just painting it won't work. Thats probably what I will do unless someone suggests something better before I get to it.

Uhhhhhh?!? I have no idea how to respond to that... If i want to go fast in the "Truck" that i bought with the huge gas guzzling motor?

I equate your statment above to "If you want to have weekly sex with your super hot wife you should have married a wh***"

I Retract all statments in this post its obvious that the chrome ring around the shifter IS the largest problem facing 2009 Dodge truck owners and a solution should be found right away, even if it requires government intervention.

Please tell me there is someone on the planet who agree's that turning off ESP, Removing Speed Limiter, and changing the shift points is a more pressing issue than the chrome shifter ring?

Oh god please dont let me be the only sane person left on the planet.

I painted mine. And here is the story of why... When I was taking everything apart to install my ipod cable, I broke the chrome ring (it's a real b!tch to get off). Instead of trying to find and buy a new one I thought I'd give "fixing" it a try first. I used epoxy to glue it back together (worked well), used some filler to fill the small gap that was left (looked fine), and bought some chrome paint to cover everything up (Fail!). The chrome paint looked like crap. It didn't match at all. So... I sanded the whole thing with 300 grit and sprayed it with 3 coats of flat black rattle can paint. It looks pretty darn good, matches my Sport interior nicely and has held up great so far - no scratches or chips in the paint. And, now I don't have to deal with that terrible glare. Long story short: it's a pain to get out of the truck, but easy (and I think well worth it) to paint.

If you don't care about the chrome trim ring then don't bother responding to the thread discussing it. This is a forum. If a person has an issue with their truck, no matter how small or large, this forum is here so they can start a thread and discuss it with other individuals who share their concern. If you don't agree its an issue, then fine, start a thread discussing something you deem of value or importance. If others share your concerns, they'll respond. The people in this particular thread are interested in discussing the chrome trim ring and not your prioritization preferences of other issues. It is non value added to this particular thread's topic. Just my $0.02...

Can you post a pic? I'd be curious to see how it looks. Thanks.

I have to remove my center console to install a stereo system this weekend, Do you have to remove the chrome ring to remove the console?
If so whats the best way to remove it without breaking it?
Thanks

Your equation is way off.

If you want to turn of ESP, the speed limiter, wait for a programmer. Don't come into a chrome trim thread and complain that Dodge should remove the speed limiter right this instant because you want to speed in Texas.

If you want to complain about something, start a separate thread on it.
