So after reading all the replies I was a little confused, cold air/hot air, this one is better, the box is just a copy of the stock one, and so on. I went and bought a K&N high flow air filter for $56.00 and said the Hell with it.

I run the K&N drop in as well. There are people on here against those too.

You will never find a product that everyone loves, but the forums are here to give you opinions.

Hi All:
I hope I did not come off As mad or pissed off. I just wanted to let you all know I took the low road and got the least expensive upgrade for the induction system. I compared the air flow increase of the drop in to the complete system and could not justify the cost.

Good call man. Was told from a reliable source to wait cause alot of CAIs out now are not making power due to design and our computer. But if your just after the looks and sound that should be perfect . Hope this helps.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm you know somebody with the initials JH in engineering somewhere to do with our trucks....cuz that is exactly what I heard and people could be damaging their engine using high flow filters since they allow more dirt abeit small particles to get into the engine. I don't give that much of a big deal but I do believe worse gas mileage. and paying 200 plus for the same box you have already. cuz I experienced it with 03 R/T Durango.

worse gas mileage?

now.. i dont know if in other makes and engines that loss of power and gas mileage occurs.

but i do know for a fact that i get noticeably better gas mileage and quicker throttle response with my XDI...

as far as filtering.. i dunno...

the xdi uses a foam filter so u should be good. as for the k&n, airaid, ex... the filters have bigger holes for air to flow through but that's why you spray the oil on the filter. to trap the particles that would otherwise make it through. I had an 07 Laramie 4X4 QC I put a K&N cai, airaid tbs, magnaflow cat back, and an edge evolution programmer in it and I was getting anywhere from 400 miles city to 525 miles highway a tank (26gal). So far I'm not getting 400 in my new one which is 4x2 and has 32 gal tank. So from my past experience I'm doing the same stuff to this one.

You guys that purchased the Airaid MXP 300-236 ( airbox and filter, no intake tube ) how is the fit ? Does the air duct opening in the air box fit to the fender well opening ? I recall reading a post months back it did not line up. Looking for best price now, want to buy it this week. thanks for any info.

I just ordered the 300-237(with tube) from http://www.ourdealsrock.net/99-300-237.aspx It shows a higher price but once you put it in your cart you get it for 329 shipped. The 300-236 is 243 shipped but I opted for the better tube. Our stock rubber tube just doesn't seem very good to me.
