8200 miles and on 2nd oil change

Changed oil on Ram 1500 w/ hemi at 1200 mi. the light came on at 2600, so I am sure it is not assessing the oil, but comming on at an interval related to the driving habits from day one, Short trips etc. I checked the oil it was fine, and only had 1400 miles on it, so my intention is to put Mobil 1 in at 3000mi and try to go 5000 miles on the oil.

My kids Avenger had an oil change done, no message we just felt the first one should be done early..around 3000 KM or so, on the way home the light came on, took it back they just reset it, but why did it come on should it not recognize new good oil? Must have something to do with time also because it was like 3 months or more. But we checked it was clean, didn't lose any. Weird.
Now on the Hemi it has something to do with MDS why you might need an oil change sooner than other tiimes...maybe how much it engages etc. Just guessing. Trying to make sense of all this. I would rather just go with the old standard 2/3 months or 5000 miles whichever is first.
