yesterday my message center came up for the 2nd time.. oil change...

$84 later...

that 5000 mile trip i took wore that last mobil 1 oil out i guess...

well..the message didn't come up for almost 6000 miles... so that pretty good i guess

 

and 6K is the general average driving recommendation in the owners manual for an oil change. Look like the truck evic is doing its job. Because I drive so little. Less than 400 miles per month. I have not switch to synthetic. I change the oil at 6 months or when I hit the miles, whichever comes first. Much of the driving I do is short trips. I figure two OFL per year is not to much of a maintenance cost.

 

Why was it $84??

he's using mobil 1 and the last hemi i owned (05 ram 1500) held like 4657 quarts of oil, ok mabye thats an exageration but they do use at least one quart more than normal dont they?

I'm at 9400 km and due for my 2nd...

 

I dont see if we r to get 6000miles or 6 months with regular oil for only 2 bucks more synthetic will not be necessary for my truck.

 

7 quarts of mobil 1 full synthetic, mobil 1 filter and $14 to do the oil change = $82

 

My message just showed up yesterday, after 3000km of towing and 800 of puttzing around town. It came on the day after the dealer changed the oil at my request. (I supplied the Amsoil) the tech didn't reset the system...

 

When you say normal did you mean overfill it?

In that case, no, they do not put in more oil than recommended.

We take 7 quarts though.

I look for oil that is on sale. I am looking right now actually...
