Smile Sound system started...

Well tonight I started upgrading my sound system. I got the front doors and one rear door finished. I also got the rear wall and under the rear seat covered with fat mat. This stuff seems pretty good. Heavy and sticks very good. It was a beach getting it on the door panels, my arms look like they were attacked by a cat. My amp and sub, and enclosure should be coming in Monday or Tuesday, and I will be able to finish... Below is some pics.

I keep seeing pictures of people sticking that stuff to the inside of their door panels. Any idea what happens when you get water running in around the window seals? Normally it would just run down and out the weep holes in the bottom of the door. Does the mat trap any moisture?

It really does help the sound, i applied mine and then stuck the stock speakers back in for a few days and you could hear the difference.
I did such a lousy job applying mine that im sure its not watertight but after the next big rain ill pull the door panel off and check, thanks for the heads up.

Believe me I have no doubt this is water tight. You probably won't have to worry about water. Once you take the back off, you better not stick it to anything until you get it where you want it because it isn't moving. Thats the hardest part working behind the panels without getting it stuck where you don't want it. Also if you look the factory already uses small thinner strips to deaden the noise in different location in the door so I don't think water should be to much of a problem.

Don't worry Lee mine isn't perfect!! With this sticky stuff I don't know how you would get it perfect. If you look close mine has little folds and bumps here and there. I can definetley tell I difference too. I can barely hear my after market exhaust when I start it.

They are were adapted to 6.5". The originals were 6x9. If you use 6x9's though you have to find ones that are shallow enough.

I did all four doors, the rear wall, and all under where the subs will go under the seats. I doubled up directly under the speakers. If I would have ordered the 100ft I could have probably done the rest of the flooring. Sounds good with what I got. I can't imagine working with rattle mat. I bought the 60mil one, and that one was thick!!

Update:
Started installing my floor LED's turned out really good, very nice bright glow (30 bucks on ebay). Sub box isn't coming until friday and wiring kit and harness until monday. In the meantime I may start the headlights, I was waiting for the HID's but we still need two more people for the group buy for them to ship... HINT HINT
