We don't have a big issue with it in the almost year we have had it happen less than 10 times and some of the times it was our fault for instance wrong fob one time, and another few times we were doing a distance test for auto start.

New to forum and this key fob issue is part of my reason for joining. I don't have remote start but mine does it at least once every couple of weeks. Usually tapping it against the back of my hand or pressing lock gets it working again. I've replace the battery twice and even had the dealership check twice. Of course when the dealership looks at it the problem never happens. Would really like to know what the solution is.

I decided to have a Viper 5901 kit (security/1 mile remote start) to be installed this coming Monday. This should fix my problem with the fob and get some nice features as well.

I honestly don't think that dodge is going to come out with a fix for this issue; therefore i'm taking it upon myself to fix it in a different manor.

Yes, mine has done that too. This sounds really strange but if I hold the remote to my chin that usually fixes it. FYI if you are just out of range for you key fobb, put it under your chin, I don't know why but it increases your range.

I brought my truck into the dealership and they changed the module, and guess what? it still happens. I narrowed it down to either interference, because it always happens when I park at the coffee shop or when I stop and run errands on short trips in and out of the store. Not bad for a 40,000 truck, just don't use it as a getaway car, you'll never get in.

Put it under your chin?

Oh heck no. I have a metal pin in my elbow and if I hold my arm up real high....
Seriously I have not had a problem with mine since I reprogrammed it.

got my truck back today with the viper 5901 kit installed. awesome unit, speechless...

even started my truck in bestbuy when my truck was about to blocks away.

the unit confirms that the truck is started and has a timer on the remote to let you know how long it's been running. you can also check the temp of the cabin from the remote as well. has tons of features and i'm happy with the little that i know about it...

my door lock problem is gone for good now...

Had one installed for a couple of months now and love it! Of course it's not my first one, I've been running the Viper (DEI) products for years.

I also had the Smart Start module installed so I can start/unlock/lock my truck from my iPhone. Soon they are releasing an update to the iPhone application that if the alarm goes off, your iPhone will get a text (push notification).

Would have had it done after I drove off the lot but had to wait for the new module (CHALL) that interfaces the funky key with the Viper system.

You got some bling for teeth acting as an antenna? LOL
I was just playing around with my wife and discovered that I don't have problems with the auto start and she does. Her problem is she pushes the buttons too quickly and if i does register one of the pushes and does not start you have to wait a period of time that Iam not sure how long but I would say as long as it would take for the alarm system to engage after you lock the truck....15 seconds? If you push the lock button the car will not start right away with the fob. So are we accidentally pushing wrong buttons. I know also most of us push the hell out of the button except me, I watched my wife push the buttons I asked her if she thinks the button will work better if you push it harder. I think the equipment is fine I have decided it's a user problem, I switched Fobs with her and put new batteries in one and not the other, finally the other too for no reason just so they both have them.
I still think it is subject to outside interference, around police stations, casino, Hiram Walkers or Wisers whatever they are called now, the parking lot for the casino in across the street and they shuttle employees to the casino. But now she knows how to work the Fob we shall see.

Default Key Fob Update - Chrysler Tech verified

Today I gave my dealership a call to check in on the status of this issue. They told me that one of their customers raised a a big enough stink with Chrysler that they sent one of their factory technicians out to take a look at this customers key fob issue. The technician was able to verify the issue and identify that it was coming from the wireless control module in the truck. Currently they do not have a fix for this issue yet. However, this is a huge step in the right direction that Chrysler has identified and verified the issue. Now we only have to wait for the fix to come. Hope this helps many of you that are anxious as I am to get this issue resolved.
