Default F&CK! Check Engine Light Came On

So I'm pulling the boat back to our storage spot... about 4 miles into an 8 mile trip and I need to get over a lane when I see a nice opening up ahead, so I punch the throttle to accelerate and then the check engine light or MIL or whatever it's called comes on. The truck accelerated just fine, temps were all fine, oil pressure was fine, I was in tow/haul mode, etc., but it was 104F outside. I have about 8,860 miles on the truck. Anyways... anyone have any ideas as to what may have caused this?

Then... I stopped by Home Depot on the way home and as I was walking out I hit the remote start. Truck started fine, ran for about 5 - 6 seconds, and then shut down. I got in and saw the following message in my EVIC: "Remote start disabled - System fault". Any ideas?

I'll call the dealer and setup an appointment, but it's a pain in the a$$ to be without my truck....

I wonder if you can pull the code up on the odometer like you could the 3rd gens? Have you tried that?

Have not tried. Never had a light/code on my 3rd gen. Does anyone know if it's possible? I vaguely recall reading it doesn't work.

Exact same thing happened to me. Hit remote start and it shut off with the EVIC saying that. I turned it back on and drove to a resturaunt, when I was ready to leave it wouldn't start, it took a dozen tries to get it to even crank but it finally started. I think this had something to do with it . My check engine light was on too
Anyway I was going to take it to the dealer but it worked fine after that and I haven't had any problems for thousands of miles, so I never took it to the dealer.
I have no idea what it was but it only happened once....odd.

Nope you can't get the code numbers now. That would make too much sense.

This is the recurring check engine light that plagues my truck. After about 7 or 8 ignition cycles the light will go off and the next time you get on the gas it'll come on again.

I've been to the dealer and at first they didn't have a fix for it, now they do, but the part(s) are backorderd. My light is off now, but at 4000 rpm I no longer get that surge of power or that intake sound it used to make.

See why I'm unhappy with my truck?

I would be unhappy in your case as well. Do you know what your code was? And do you know what parts they ordered?

I haven't noticed any loss in power/acceleration yet.

I had the same problem and it was a code p1004. Turned out to be the intake short runner valve. Now that its fixed I have a intake leak that has to be fixed from the first repair

same thing happened to me. I was in a parking lot hit the remote start and it did not start when i got into the truck there was some message on the EVIC about the start failure. I drove the truck around and it would not come off. I disconnected the negative battery cable and the check engine light has turned off and has not come back on since.
