Default Bed Rug Owners, get in here. Mine isn't fitting right. - UPDATE

Does yours do this? Mine doesn't fit near the cab. It appears to be about an inch too narrow. Take a look at the left corner in these pictures:

Huge gap in left corner:

Nice and tight on the right corner:

I also wasn't impressed with how the tailgate section was mounted. The long strip of velco near the plastic lip doesn't have much flat metal to stick to at all. It is also really loose in the middle as you can see in this picture how it's bowed out.

Jinxr:
Had no issues installing mine in a Quad Cab 6'6"
box and it fits like a glove. Laid the rug on the bed with the sides zippered on and made sure it fit front to back before we stuck the Velcro strips down. We Velcro'ed in the cab end first (making sure we cleaned the areas where the Velcro strip was going to be taped to the box). Used my wife's alcohol face wipes , because the ones they give with the rug are pretty much useless after about 2 minutes. Then worked the rug sides first making sure the rug fit up under the bed railall the way then applied bottom to top. with both sides done we pulled the end gate part and applied the Velroe tape half on the tailgate cap and half on the tail gate. In a few days We applied extra velcroe strips along the top under the bedrail. Also installed weather stripping under the tailgate and up the sides. One week later we installed a Low Rider Elite Fiberglass Tonneua cover. Have not had one dust or water leak.
It look's to me like the rug is bulging in the cab end. Might just be the pic. When you laid the rug on the bed did you have the sides on? 'Cause found out you have the pull tight front to back remembering the zipper and don't push the rug too tight agaist the cab end. Also when we cut the hole for the tie downs , we cut them in a C shape. That way you can still adjust front to back and you can lay the center of the C back inside the Tie down hook and Vecroe or paste to the box.
Hope this helps. and Good Luck. Let us Know
Thanx

Mine went in okay the one side could use a bit of refitting, and they give you extra velcro, use in on the tailgate....where is it going to go, it is part of the whole thing. You should take it back if you are not happy and get what you want.

Jinxr,

Had mine put in yesterday. When I saw your pics I went out and checked on mine. It's pretty tight all the way around. I did notice the tailgate section on mine was also bowed just a tad bit but not really bad. Maybe some extra is left for when the tailgate is in the down position. Has anybody else had a problem with the tailgate section?

Not much info to give you but just thought I'd respond.

Mine went in pretty good using the supplied instructions. The tailgate section seems like it might get peeled off sliding stuff in the bed. It had some bumps and bulges but settled in after a few weeks. I like it a lot.

I've had mine on since July of '04, installation was easy, fit like a glove. I've had loads of sand and river rock in there and the tailgate section has never moved on me. I pressure wash it about once a year and that's about all the care it's had.

There is a bulge in where the tailgate meets the truck bed, but this is necessary when opening the tailgate...

Mine fits fine also. I think part of the problem on the one above is that the front is not centered.

He would have to re cut the hole for the tie downs it looks cut further back on the drivers side and ya I agree after looking it is not centered, I would start leave it don't tell anyone they won't notice.

Mine fits great. 4th one I've owned. They all have fit just fine. Did you buy it locally or internet. I'd send it back and get a refund or new one.

Yeah, I know it's not centered, that's obvious. If I did center it, it would cause a gap on both sides. Guess I'll be seeing about getting a replacement.
