Default Shake while in 4x4 - is this normal?

I switched my new 09 SLT 5.7 into 4x4 for the first time today just for the hell of it. When I accelerate and the rpms build to 3K or so, I feel a shake in the truck. When not accelerating, its as smooth as butter but has this shake under acceleration. Harder the acceleration, the more pronounced the shake.

I tried it on a dry pavement road, which I know your not supposed to do...at least according to the owners manual. Maybe this had something to do with it, but I thought I'd check here to see if this is normal or not before going to the dealer with it.

Thanks in advance...

Shouldnt be shaking, especially if you are going in a straight line, even on a pavement road. I would try it in something softer and take it in if it persists, mine doesnt shake

I use 4x4 often, usually on the beach, and never had shaking like you described. I have forgotten to turn it off and only knew by seeing the light (don't worry didn't get over 20mph) in the dash.

I don't know from what I heard you should even be on dry pavement. I was in low too when that happened. I actually think it takes it out if it shouldnt be on since its electronic..

I'd take it in. You could have wheel hop when engaging 4x4 but most of the time it's when turning in low on pavement. You shouldn't really feel a shaking but more of a hop and 4 hi in a straight line should not produce that much of wheel hop. It sounds like either your transfer case is not engaging correctly or the angle of the driveshaft could be off. That can cause shaking.

i don't get a shake but more of a vibration that really shows up at higher speeds. I was told by the dealer that this is not new, many trucks have the same issue, and there is no fix for it.

Ah don't believe that there is no fix. Jeep had problems which owners call Death Wobble but that has nothing to do with 4x4. Now if you lifted them and the driveshaft angle got messed up then you'd get a death wobble. It could happen anywhere from take off to up to 60mph. I'd have them troubleshoot it. Look at the transfer case then maybe disconnect the driveshaft and see if it goes away.
