You would want to go with 4:56's to make it worth your while. The stock carrier cannot handle 4:56's unless you shave down the carrier pin. Aftermarket carriers will allow the lower gear ratio with no alterations.
9.25" out back
8" up front
You need the Masterl install kits. If you have >50kmi, I would change the rear axle bearings and seals while you have everything apart.

I tow a travel trailer and tow it in 4th or 3rd gear .

mine was a early build with Rambox , Slt with extras. I believe the sport model came with the 355, then 4 wd has the 392. I contacted a large gear and axle Company about changing to 355 . They told if I went with non mopar gears they would whine .
thanks
Depends on the gear manufacturer. Richmod generally whines because they have a softer metal compound. Most will not whine if set up correctly.
I would not swap 3:21 for 3:55. Not much change. You should jump to 3:92 for a notable difference.

brando....

Basically everything you would need beside's fluid.

I'm, not sure what gear or bearing they are providing. I would go with Timken bearings if you can help it. Also, get a double lip Pinion seal from NAPA. The standard ones are notorious for leaks.

I did yukon 4.56 with a master rebuild kit from Randy's ring and pinion and had a local trans and rear shop install on the F150 fx4 from the stock 3.73's. Fronts are reverse cut. No issues with getting them into the stock carrier and no whine at all, BUT.... my .02.. that was way too much gear for only 33" bfg all terrains. Unless your tuned and have at least 35" tires, 4.10 is about all I would do if your truck is even a parttime daily driver.

So the IFS in a 4th gen Ram's is a Chrysler 8 inch? Are there LSD's available for it?

My Sport has the 3.55. How easy would it be to upgrade it to the 3.92 LSD or something within that range? Can you change the gears out without swapping the whole axle? Lastly, is that something the Dodge dealer could do, or do I need to find an aftermarket shop?

9.25 is the housing size not the axle size
