I guess it will be well lubricated. Do you think it has anything to do with the trucks having the MDS?

A little oil burning don't hurt a thing. I like my vehicles to burn a little oil, keeps things goodin lubricated and I can add new clean oil to it between changes

The bottom of your tailpipes being black hasn't a thing to do with it using a little oil.ALL vehicles do that. Its from WATER being burned off. There is not one manufacture low end or high end that will go digging for a 1 qt in 3 thousand miles.I know most all of us would like a vehicle to NEVER go down a drop at all but thats not reality.Different oils have different flash points.Ask some questions on www.bobistheoilguy.com lots of guys with OCD on that site but it does have good info about such topics.I cannot speak about my truck as I changed oil at 2500 miles and just now have 3300.The bottoms of my chrome pipes as well as the bottom half of the lips are black also

Hi, All.

I have a 2011 Durango with a 5.7 hemi, and it burns oil, too and it only has 33k miles on it. In fact, it will use 1.5 to 2 quarts of oil between oil changes (5,000 miles), which I think is ridiculous! I went to the dealership today, and he showed me that same document, oil usage of 1 quart every 1,000 miles driven for vehicles with less than 50,000 miles. Give me a break, that's total BS. I also have a 2007 300 C that uses more oil than I think it should.

I been using mobile 1 20w-50 in both engines. I recently changed to conventional Valvoline in the Durango, same oil usage. I've read in these strings, that synthetic Valvoline my help, which I will try. I have a hard time believing Chrysler can't build a motor that doesn't use 2 quarts of oil every 5k miles. Don't get me wrong, I love my Hemi's, but the oil usage really confounds me.
